LakeAnnaBasser Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 The powder paint is very durable. But im putting 3d eyes on my jig. Will they come off easily if I dont epoxy the jig?? What would you all do?? Quote
HogHooker Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 glue them or epoxy them to the jig head and then clear coat the whole thing 2 or 3 times Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 could i get away with just putting epoxy on the eyes. I dont expect them to last forever. Also how do you add the weedguard. superglue or epoxy. If you use epoxy what would be the best kind for adding the weedguard??? Quote
Cory20 Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 For the 3d eyes, Devcon 2, the 30 minute stuff...1.97 at wally world over them. Thin it some with a denatured alcohol to help put on a smooth coat. For the weed guards, dip them in Devcon 5 minute. The stuff sets up fast, too fast to be used efficiently for clear coating. You could get away with clearing over the eyes, but while you're at it might as well do the whole jig. Epoxy is cheap. sorry this is a mess, i'm really tired. Super glue and super glue jell can wick up a weed guard and isn't a good choice. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted December 30, 2007 Super User Posted December 30, 2007 There are a couple different ways to do it just experiment until you find what works best for you. First you can glue them on with devcon 5 minute but I have found super glue JELL (very important not to get regular) works a lot better, drys instantly, and will not come off. Second, get yourself some clear fingernail polish at the dollar store, CVS, where ever. Next lay the lure on its side with the eye facing up. Pull out the polish brush and a bead should be on the end, then just put a drop of the polish right into the eye socket covering the eye. The fingernail polish will cover the eye and fill the socket sealing the eye to the bait. Wait until it dries on that side the flip over and repeat. Allen Quote
