Has anyone ever been to Eureka? It is the neatest place!

Eureka would be a better option than Rogers cuz it's close to the lake.  I do some work with a contractor out of Rogers that has a large cabin on the lake (used to be ***** house :eyebrows:  ),I might be able to get some suggestions where to stay.  Eureka does have many bars and restaurants.

If we decide on beaver I can tap into some resources and get some good info.

I've never been on one of these, but if there's room in a boat...I'm in. It will be around finals time for my MBA classes, but I can plan accordingly. I know Clayton, but it would be nice to meet some other local guys.

Where did you guys decide on?

Haven't made a decision yet, but it will be either Grand or Beaver.

Curt said Grand first then Beaver if we can stay in Eureka Springs, which is fine with me. Sizzle still hasn't voted. Those 2 are kind of the deciding votes right now.

So are we fishing Thursday night that week?

Probably not. I need to make a change to the schedule and the rules, but that's the good thing about planning this far in advance, we can figure out possible issues and make the changes needed.

Anyone have any suggestions for lodging at Beaver in Eureka? I posted a question on another forum for suggestions from guys that live in the area. Seems that lodging isn't an issue, but finding a place with room to park a boat without unhooking and power hookups is about impossible. The 2 places that were suggested to me that seem like viable options are;

http://www.riverviewcabinsandcanoes.com/contact.html

http://www.spidercreek.com/

Both near the lake and actually on the banks of the White River for anyone interested in trout fishing while they're there as well. I emailed Riverview about cabin rates, they look more like economy cabins than spider creek but it wasn't terrible as long as we have the cabins filled to capacity. I was also warned about extremely clear water and potentially tough fishing towards the dam so we might have to look at trailering being an option again for anyone that doesn't want to fish gin clear water. Spider Creek also has RV hookups with 50amp power hookups for $45 a night if anyone has an RV capable of pulling a boat or if someone just wants to pull/drive one down there that's big enough to sleep a few people and split cost that way or even pitch a tent on the pad.

I'm not opposed to either of those places. A couple of places I've thought of are Thermans lodge

It's in the heart of eureka around the bars/restaurants... It's a nice place that we could back up the boats up to our rooms to charge batteries. I think a room with 2 beds is around $50. I've stayed at this place probably a dozen times.

I tried to call/email them with no response yet? I don't know if they close for the winter...

Another place that will work is the Joy. It's also in Eureka and we could park the boats outside the rooms...

It's a dump but at around $35 a room I don't think any of our dates are going to care! Lol

I mentioned to the wife driving down and looking around so we may do that

I know there are tons of great little places that would work great for us but Ive never taken a boat or needed a place to park it so I can't remember the names of those places.

Therman's looks like it could would work as long as we can leave the boats hooked up and block some of their parking lot. As small as it is, we might about have the place rented out anyways. Joy looks like it would be a tight area to try to get turned around with a boat. I could really care less and I'm sure I've stayed in worse than anything there. I'll let Jon tell the story about the "cabin" (see also-tool shed/big dog house) we stayed in at the White River in Arkansas a few years ago  :eyebrows:  that or the place that had dirt floors with pallets to stand on that the wife and I stayed in at LOZ a few years ago, I'll never live that one down.

Let me check with a couple of people.  Did Beaver win?  Even though the BA didn't vote for it?

That's what it's looking like right now, at least that's what the majority has voted on thus far. I think some pictures he saw on the interwebs might have swayed the BA's feelings as well.

Just got a text from a buddy that lives in NW Arkansas and he said that the Walmart Shareholders meeting is early May and Walmart rents up most of the rooms around.  Might want to check.

Any of the cabins or lodges would be fine with me. an long as we aren't all trying to use one bathroom.

I got ahold of Thermans and they want $55/night + tax for a room with 2 beds

If we stay on the lake we would be closer to the water in the mornings

If we stayed in Eureka we would be closer to food Booze and Icecream <<<< BA

Thermans has a bar/grill next door and a great Mexican restaurant about a block away

I'm all for keeping it cheap. I'm not leaving my boat on the water at night and it's a short drive from Eureka to the lake. Like I said though, I really don't care either way.
