Green Trout Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 What is your favorite hook for a skinny 7 inch plastic worm? Also what plastic worms catch more fish? Thanks Quote
fishinphilly Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 well it all depends of how I'm fishing it, if I'm using a bullet weight with a ribbon tail worm ill got with a 3 or 4/0 light wire EWG and that worm will usually be either a berkley or netbait (it all depends on personal preference) if your looking to try out different colors i would suggest berkley havoc juice worms for $2.99 a pack you can't beat it for all the colors they have and add your own scent as for straight tail worms ill use a 3/0 offset worm hook fishing it weightless and ill always by zoom and I'm almost always using white, green pumpkin chart tail or a black red flake either weightless or on a shaky head hope this helps tight lines, jim Quote

Alpha Male Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 It a toolbox imo. You use the right hook for the right bait. I have 1/0 through 5/0 in both ewg and offset shank. I also twist lock, weighted hooks, and others. Use the biggest hook you can that won't affect the action of the bait. Use either a lightwire or heavywire hook depending on vegetation. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 13, 2015 Super User Posted January 13, 2015 4/0 EWG Gami for 5in Senkos. Anything bigger gets a 5/0 or the EWG Monster. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted January 13, 2015 Super User Posted January 13, 2015 For a skinny worm like a Creme Scoundrel I like a EWG hook in a 2/0 or 3/0 size. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 13, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 13, 2015 2/0 or 3/0 H2O or Eagle Claw Lazer sharp EWG. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted January 13, 2015 Super User Posted January 13, 2015 For that worm I'm using a 3/0 offset round bend hook unless in heavy cover, then I'm using the TK130 Trokar flipping hook in a 3/0 size also. Before those I used the Eagle Claw laser sharp offset round bend and heavy cover I used a Gamakatsu offset EWG superline hook, the advent of straight shank hooks with a keeper on them really changed my mind on heavy cover hooks. I use to like the Gamakatsu straight shank but the keeper kept moving on hook sets so I went to the Trokar and have been really happy. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted January 13, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 13, 2015 3/0 or 4/0 skip gap depending on the "skinnyness" Anything bigger I use a twist lock straight shank. Latley, I can't rig anything else but the Cut R. Mike Quote
