So this winter, the Shimano 50 size bug got me. I recently picked up a Chronarch 51e and I planned on pairing it up with a St Croix AV70MF. I then found a practically new Curado 50e for a great price, so I snagged that one up as well. I'm not sure what rod to pair up with this reel. I hate to have two setups that are exactly the same, so I wanted to see what you all would suggest pairing it with. Let me hear your opinions. Thanks.

Pair it with whatever you want. All but one of my baitcasters is a 50 size. It may not be ideal for some special casses like deep diving cranks or swimbaits, but anything else it should be fine.

One of mine is permanently teamed with an Elite Tech Smallmouth 6'10" MF.  Love that combo.  Not sure about the other, but most likely will be on another Medium rod.

i have a curado 51e on a *** black 6'10" MF, love the feel of this combo.  use that weightless worms, light jigs and t-rigs.

my other curado 51e is likely to get upgraded to an Avid soon for a topwater/jerkbait combo.

It will pair well with most anything, the question becomes what technique will it be used for?

I could honestly care less if the colors pair up. I'll take quality over aesthetics any day.

As for technique, I've already got a setup for basically every application, so it's not like I have any gaps to fill. It will mostly likely be used for a jerkbait/plastics/small topwater type of setup.

My chronarch 51e is on a 7'1 mhf ***..looks sweet

But i may put it in my LTB and move the lews tp from there to the *** lol

Bug bit me last month to join the 50 crowd lol

Great.  :teeth3:  I have the 7'3" MF model.  Nice rod to put the other reel on.

Agree with DVT. Don't overthink it. Put each on a rod,

and if you don't like the setups, change 'em out!

I've settled with my 2 Chronarch 50e reels paired up on

6'6" ML Carbonlite, the other on a 6'6" MF Carbonlite.

Lightest setups I own at this point, and love 'em.

Throw that curado on your avid and put the Chronarch on a ***. That black and white combo looks sick. Here's mine with a Curado I handle.

Poor fish, it looks cold with that snow.  :cry3:

I have my 50s paired with 6'8" MH/F Cumara with Curado 50E and a GLX 853C with a Chronarch 50MG.

I'm looking for two new rods to pair with my other 50MG and Chronarch 50E.  Last season they were used on my GLX854C and Fenwick ET Smallmouth 6'10 M/F.

just got that same combo, except a 6'7 mh ***. Water just needs to soften up so I can try it out

Looking at your orignal post and the techniques you list. If you like the Avid go for another one of them in a little shorter length for the jerkbaits. A 6ft 6in MF should do great.
