Hello everyone,

I am taking out the boat out of markham park and am going to try to catch some snakeheads. Is there any particular lures or live bait that work best? Also what time in the day would I have a better chance for success?

Lastly is there any other tips with handling this species? First time targeting them.

Thank you,

i live in pa but we do have snakeheads here but anyway to help a little my 2 favorite baits for snakehead are frogs, either hollow or hard bodied and jerkbaits (rip baits) i don't know about your weather down there must be nice, but i tend to catch more in early spring to right around the bluegill spawn and tend to always find them close to the bank especially if theres grass, and to handle them, they do have teeth so hold them like a catfish like right behind the gills

hope this helps

tight lines, jim

The two snake heads I caught were North of Markham park.  Both were caught on frogs.  As far as handling them goes. Get yourself " The Fishgrip" its an inexpensive fish grip made of plastic that floats. They cost about $7 at BPS. I love it. It has slot specially made for scales and makes fish handling easier on the fish and fisherman. Good luck.
