Super User clayton86 Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I really hate cats right now. I went to my moms to get all my lures and tackle to organize for the spring. A little back story my mom and sister are crazy cat ladies lol. They have 5 cats of their own and also feed all the strays. Strays that live in the barn that I store my gear and kayak in. I grabbed my milk crate with all my trays and tackle in it and threw it in my truck and drove off. Couple miles down the road all I can smell is cat tick!!!! They sprayed all over my crate and tackle. I'm so mad now. I can't bring it inside to work on I don't want that smell so I left it outside under the leanto at my house hoping the snow and fresh air will kill some of the smell so I can bring it inside. Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 Put another tally in the "Dog" column. That puts the score at: Dogs - 473742 Cats - 0 Dogs are so much better lol 6 Quote
Super User Senko lover Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I hate them too. The thought of cat hair all over my house would be enough to make me flip out. 1 Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I like cats, and dogs too......... I pretty much like any animal, especially the delicious ones. LOL Anyone that I have ever met that was "anti-cat" is usually covering up other area's of personal deficiency. Sure I get mad at them (the cats) when they act a fool. Lets just hope this thread doesn't fall into a pee pee stretching contest of tales of cat hatred, abuse and shooting them. Cause you know that's what "real" men do, shoot and curse cats. 3 Quote

Didn't think plastic tackle boxes smelled like fish and you would think they would try to eat it not tick on it I mean I don't tick on stuff that smells like food. 1 Quote
RSM789 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I grew up around both dogs & cats and have had both my entire life. When they are a cool animal, a dog can be better - he is your best & most loyal friend while the cat just wants to sit on you. However, if the animal is a jerk, then dogs are worse. A unfriendly cat will just run away (99% of the time) while an unfriendly dog can be aggressively dangerous. Each has its own place and if you don't try to make one act like the other, they both are great to have as pets. That said, I have had both cats & dogs get into my tackle. When I was a teenager, my parents had a lake house & we would organize our tackle the night before going fishing & leave them on the back porch instead of in the boat docked on the water. One night near 3 am, we are awoken to the howling of one of our cats and the sound of something being dragged around the porch. Sure enough, the cat tried to eat one of my crankbaits, hooked itself in the mouth & was desperately trying to get away from the lure & rod it was attached to. My mom & dad got hold of the cat, but couldn't get the hook out. Our fireman neighbor heard the commotion & came over. With my mom holding the cat in a towel, he got the hook out, but not before the cat nearly shredded his forearm. The cat, who actually used to ride in the boat with us when we fished & would eat any bluegill we caught, was none worse for the wear. Years later, I was at my mom's fishing for catfish off her dock. I had multiple lines out and one of the catfish I caught tangled around a couple of the other lines. I brought in the tangled lines & as I was untangling them, my mom's miniature schnauzer came down to the dock and grabbed one of the baited hooks of the lines I was untangling. I reached over & grabbed his throat to stop him from swallowing it when suddenly, one of my lines started zipping away with another catfish. One hand on the dogs throat, one hand fighting a big catfish, yelling for someone to come out of the house & help. Just as the dog finally coughed up the hook & bait, the catfish surged & snapped my line. Saved the dog, lost the fish. I'd love to take my current dog fishing, but he is 105 lbs. of Anatolian Shepard energy & stubbornness - he would sink my little pond Prowler before I made my first cast. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 12, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 12, 2015 That's an EXPENSIVE cat! My sister would love to have a bengal but they're crazy money to buy one and usually a long waiting list to get one. I don't mind cats most of the time, but I'd much rather have a dog. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted January 12, 2015 Author Super User Posted January 12, 2015 He is about 25 lbs Jack is two kimchi the cat is 1 in that pic lol. Blue my ex got him when I was deployed when I was making good money cat ran us $1000 Quote
RAMBLER Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 As they get older, even fixed tom cats, will start marking their territory. Speaking from experience. Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 hahahah, nice looking HUGE cat! I have two cats, and one dog (she's my little girl!), and one of my cats, haha I am a little hesistant to type this chews through my fishing line. He's blind and not see anything, smells everything! Otis (blind cat) is sleeping/hiding and whenever I pick up my reels, rods, start looking at my lures, he suddenly appears! Otis's record is chewing through 20# Tatsu line, ugh! I find my lure that I JUST TIED ON ACROSS THE ROOM wondering what happened. Great feeling when you are ready to fly out of the door to go fishing!! Wdy Quote
