Jaderose Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Picked a few up...different colors and blade set ups. My question is on trailers....do you use them on this bait? Can you put a couple of minnows on them or is is best not to use one. They are old school and I like them, I just need a little guidance on them. Quote
fisherrw Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I'd use sweet beavers that are cut down. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 You mean the old versions where they had kind of a double hook, like a small double frog hook? I recall buying some of those in the late 80's, but I never did any good with them, probably because the places where I threw spinnerbaits, that double hook just gathered too much vegetation. That was my issue with them, anyway. I didn't think that they fished well in grass, much worse than a standard spinnerbait. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I always used them plain. I liked them in current . Quote
dead end canal Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I always used them plain as well. What I use far more often are their larger jig spinners and I swap out the grub for a Mann's Sting Ray or Ike's Devil Spear. Rig them horizontally and you get a nice action. 1 Quote
Jaderose Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 Yep...the double hook old school one. I figured it was plain but I might try a few things with it. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I put the hook on upside down , every-time and have to redo it. LOL Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I use to walk the banks of the Mississippi river and fish rip rap banks. Id cast the H and H spinners upstream and reel them in fast enough to feel the blade turn. They were killer lures. When a barge would go by , especially one going up river , huge waves would bang up against the rocks dislodging crayfish and baitfish. Largemouths , smallmouts , walleye , and whites would take advantage and feed aggressively. Thats when the h and h really shined. They were cheap too, so I didnt mind losing them in the rocks. Quote
