Siebert Outdoors Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 20-24 ga copper wire is what I have found to work best. Thicker the skirt bigger the wire. 1 Quote
sprint286 Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 get a roll of copper wire I think 24 ga is what I use take a bread tie and wrap it around the skirt where the bait holder is below the skirt keeper. then cut the old skirt band off. cut a 6 inch piece of wire and fold it in half in a u shape slide it around the jig where the old band was hold one end and wrap the other end around tight 2-3 times then place the two ends together take some pliers and twist until it tightens around the skirt trim the wire and fold it down with pliers. remove twist tie and your done I bought a 100 ft roll of wire for like 5 bucks at a craft store . 1 Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted January 15, 2015 Super User Posted January 15, 2015 Some of the guys here use glue or wire ties when mounting a jerk shad or fluke on a jig head, I personally don't do it. I make my my own bucktail and maribou jigs, I tie them with sewing thread or braided line and use Hard as Nails polish, works great. 1 Quote

HardcoreBassin Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the advice! My mind is running now. I have some ideas about integrating beads with the wire wrap for kind of a "built in" rattle. I'll let you know how that goes... - Dale Quote
