Super User Catch and Grease Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 My cousin and his friend who are middle schoolers decided to go for a drive in the Toyota without permission and hit my dog spot pulling back in the drive way. d**n good dog, feeling sad, angry, sorry. Terrible tragedy, such a young dog and a friend. He tried his best to stay with us but pasted away a few hours later. Just earlier today I was playing with him like I always do and now he is gone. Dont know why I'm posting this. Guess I just need to let it out. R.I.P Spot, you will be missed Quote

My dog goes everywhere and does everything that she can with me. She's our baby girl and my wife and I treat her like she was our own daughter and talk to her like another person. I hate to think of her getting hurt and I know how hard it's going to be when her time comes. It's one of those things that time has to heal, no words can make it better. I know for some getting another dog or puppy helps but some folks have to let the healing begin before it feels right. Mines been romping around in the mud while I'm fishing ever since she was just a ball of fur with little needle teeth chewing on everything. Maybe some dog pictures will help a little 2 Quote

I remember when my Prized German Shepard became ill and died, I said I would never replace her, but a year later I got another dog... When he hit my dog he went inside and told me what happened then I ran outside and carried spot inside and he wouldn't even help, him and his friend went to the bedroom and played video games and laughed and cut up while I'm inside trying to comfort my dying dog. Then absoulety no adult figures got on to him because it was an "accident". No he was trying to look like a badass in front of his friend by jacking the truck and going for a midnight cruise and his immaturity caused the death of my dog. No matter how you look at it, it is his fault and he should be punished, even though he may not have intended to kill my dog his actions caused it. Quote

BUT...life has a way of teaching lessons to those who act like that. Was a golden she named Buddy Olivia (Olivia is her middle name). After a year of amazing companionship and watching them both grow together like brother and sister. We went to the farm to see grandma one afternoon and as always Buddy Olivia went to stretch his legs. After a long day of playing we went in to eat lunch and he stayed outside. My little brother asked to take my truck to town and as he rounded the driveway I saw Buddy Olivia take off after the truck (thinking it was us) and the front tire hit him. He rolled under the truck and got the back tire as well. To save the tragic details I had to finish him, and my brother buried him as I could not. At the time it wrecked my brother and myself far worse than it did my daughter. He blamed him self for taking her best friend, and I blamed myself for it all. We told her that Buddy Olivia went to heaven because he missed his mommy and daddy. It's been almost 2 years and there isn't a prayer she prays that doesn't include Buddy Olivia and about once a year she colors a picture of them and sends him a letter to heaven ( grandmas house) and promptly gets a letter back. Lots of tears fell/fall over Buddy Olivia. I haven't been strong enough to even attempt to replace him. Stay strong brother. Quote

Part of me feels like I should have "finished" spot, he got hit between 12:30 and 1:00AM and died around 3AM. Half of me knew he wouldn't make it, but the other half just couldn't let go of him and I kept saying just make it to the morning and we'll go to the vet. I just don't have the guts do do something like that I guess, I made him as comfortable as i could for his last moments. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted January 12, 2015 Super User Posted January 12, 2015 That's just awful! So sorry for your loss. We have three dogs, one "pup" of 1.5 years, and a cat. Love them all, and can't imagine losing any. Though our "old man" Jake is getting closer to the end of his days. Can't hear or see well, can't walk well, but dadgummit we love him. Quote
