BIGGUNZ Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I'm looking for a rod that has the sensitivity and lightweight of a carrot stix rod. Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I've never fished Carrot Stix, but I own 6 Abu Garcias of all different types. My favorites are my Veritas: they're light and sensitive. I have a Villain, which is a little stiffer than the Veritas, and thus more sensitive. = I broke one in the tailgate of my truck and Abu sold me another one for their cost, plus shipping. Overall, great rods, IMO. Good luck finding replacements for your Stix. Quote
BIGGUNZ Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 i forgot to add must have microguides Quote
ak47soulja22 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I've only fished micro guides with a duckett micro magic and I really like it. I have it paired with a lews tp. I handled the carrot stix in-store when they were available and they seem close in weight. Quote
a1712 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Big Bear Rods, you can get micros, spiral wrap, any rod length, any handle length, great blanks, wrap color, etc., all for less than most higher end rods. Call Rob up and have a talk, you won't regret it. Brian. Quote
Super User Angry John Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 falcon is everywhere and carried at wally world. They have micro rods at mine. The new avidx also have micros Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 11, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 11, 2015 I have not fished with both but the Veritas feels similar to the Carrot Stix in my hand and lots of guys love the Veritas. I know several guys that have owned the Carrot Stix, including myself, they're all broken now. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 The Duckett Rods feel very similar to the old original LTX Carrot Stix, both in hand and use. Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 I still have an old carrot stix 7' eh rod still , that thing has been through it but is still in one piece !! Seems pretty indestructible to me , gonna sell it soon as I don't use it any more and I have customs made with longer blanks, they are all built with spiral wrapped micro guides, love them !! Quote
SenkoGuru Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 You need to pick up a Duckett White Ice rod. it is very close to the old Carrot Stix 21 gold rods except it is MUCH stronger and more sensitive. If you liked the Carrot stix you will love those rod's. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 If you like the Carrots, then Duckett will be the closest. They're made by the same people. Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 If u can find a pro advantage brent chapman wright and mcgill,it be perfect Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 The Duckett Ghost series would be my guess. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 Flip a coin. Just about all the imports in that price range are equal. Quote
jonnyblazex Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Why not try out some of the newer carrot stix from the new company? Also, which models did you have before that broke? I only ask because the older model wild series rods had major issues, but the pro grade and gold rods did not, or not nearly as much. These rods were made around 4 years ago, and all models have been discontinued, wild, pro grade, gold, as well as the e21 company is now just carrot stix. I actually bought a pro grade rod when they were new, and it is still one of my favorite rods, compared to nrx, aetos, Powell, lamiglas, and some higher end store brand rods, gander and scheels. I have been thinking about trying out the new carrot stix ti pro grade, they look like a sweet rod, but I have no experience with the new micro wave guide systems. The other newer options are the wild wild black, and orange, and green being a little more geared towards the saltwater. I really enjoy my nrx, but I'm not rich, and the $500 price tag can be hard to swallow. I may just have to try out that ti pro stick, I believe at $200 it's really a force to recon with. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 11, 2015 Super User Posted January 11, 2015 The good thing about the old carrot stick rods is that they were light and sensitive. The bad thing was that they broke fairly easily. Poor customer service didn't help their reputation. Their reputation is bad enough that they would have to pay me to use one of their rods. I wouldn't buy another one. That being said, I still have a couple of the Black wild carrot stix, a 6'8" one that I use to throw spinnerbaits and a 7'2" one that I throw jika rigs & other soft plastics on. All my friends who had carrot sticks, those rods are all broke now. I know that it is just a matter of time before I break these, but I'm not as hard on my rods as some of my buds are. Quote
BIGGUNZ Posted January 11, 2015 Author Posted January 11, 2015 My best rod is a 7'3" pg carrot stix. I am also using a 7'11" mh Duckett white ice I don't like the ultra fast tip. Half the time I don't even know I have a fish on. With the carrot stix you know when you have one on. Only if I can find a 7'11" or 8' mhf just like carrot stix. Quote
dave377 Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I have five Carrot sticks 4 are the gold and one is the pro. I have had them any where from five years to the news 3 years. I have not had any trouble with any of them. I have a few other rods but I don't use them much. I like the carrot sticks a lot. Maybe I should state that 90 percent of my fishing is beating the brush bank fishing. Quote

That White Ice rod you are fishing is a monster of a rod. It is made to throw 4 Oz or more baits so it is a little unfair to compare it to a 7'3 rod that is rated for most likely 3/16-3/4oz baits. BIG Difference. Quote
