Do they excel under different circumstances? Such as? Im getting tired of debating the choice with myself. Quote

I have more that a couple dozen other colors that are interchangeable too. I mostly buy plastic worms by their flake count for weedless wacky rigging since they are softer than solid colors. Open hook rigging, Tx rigging, Carolina rigging, or with a jig, it makes no difference what color. If a certain color gives you confidence, then use it. I have confidence in the presentation, color is not a factor. I keep a list of Zoom colors I have used and most I still have some of each. Just bought some new flaky colors a couple of weeks ago that had a Limited Edition sticker on the package. Don't even know what the colors were, didn't make any difference, they had lots of metal flakes in them. Baby Bass, Mardi Gras, Green Pumpkin, Watermelon Purple, Watermelon Red, Watermelon, Watermelon Candy, Red Shad, Cotton Candy, Pumpkin, June Bug, Limeaid, Bubble Gum, Smokin Blue, Green Pumpkin Green, Green Pumpkin Red, Bait Fish, Moccasin Blue, White, Seedless Watermelon, Seedless Pumpkin, Junebug Red, Red Bug, Yellow, Lemon, Lemon Shad, Red/ Black Core, Natural Blue, Cherry Seed, Icicle, Green Pumpkin Blue, Watermelon/ Chart. Brighter days or less stained water I will use Watermelon Red. On darker days or in stained water I go Green Pumpkin. However on a super clear lake I would rather throw the more natural Green pumpkin, instead of a watermelon red with a whole lot of flake. If I am not getting bit on one, there is a good chance the next color I put on is the other. 1 Quote

I like watermelon red stick baits and worms in really clear water. I am not "color matters" guy, but that don't mean I don't have favorites for one thing or another. One whole wall of lures. But, the only thing on that 12' long wall was Zoom trick worms watermelon red. He told me that that is the only lure he has ever used and he catches 10 pounders on that worm. His son told me that the man got permission to fish on a private lake (natural but privately owned property all around it) that was not fished. With that worm he was catching 40 bass/day. I have no reason to not believe him. Off the wall and probably irrelevant question' Green pumpkin looks like OD to me. Ever seen a plastic worm called OD? Quote

I feel like that color wouldn't stand out in those conditions even though others use it with success. I have always used watermelon seed with great results so never thought to use with red flakes. There is Watermelon Red Magic. It has black, red, gold, green, purple, and blue flakes that the fish can analyze and bite which color they like best. Quote

Lunker Huntin Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 About two years ago that watermelon red was on fire around here, you couldn't keep them off a wacky rigged senko in that color especially during the spring I went to lake powell and went through about 5 bags in a weeks fishing trip (the smallies were just crushing them as soon as they hit the water). This last year I got tons of new gear and fell in love with fishing jigs/cranks so the worms/senkos didn't get much attention, but that color will always be big in my rotation. Most of the lakes around me are pretty clear though so that probably has a part in it, I have always done better with watermelon red over green pumpkin. Quote
