I'm going to try drop shot from the bank this year. I plan to use spinning gear. The water is 3-6' deep, clear, with some gravel, grass, lots of leaves, and milfoil. What line and test do you think would be good? Braid to fluoro, straight fluoro, mono, copolymer....?

Any brand fluorocarbon in 6lb.

Any brand braid 10lb. bright yellow.

braid will help with reduced line twist and also allow you to see bites.

fluorocarbon leader will keep fish from seeing braid.

use a uni to uni knot.

the above is a general finesse drop shot setup.  you can then adjust form there to the conditions you have.  even use it as  a non-finesse presentation and as a horizontal bait rather than vertical. let us know what you decide on.

I tried straight 8# FC sniper and didn't care for it... Then I tried fishing straight 10# braid I'm really liking it for the dropshot so far, I don't have to worry about line visibility in the places I fish but when I fish one local place that's crystal clear I'll tie on a long FC leader.

Zeth is correct - good starting point . For ease of getting started and reducing line twist - check out #2 size VMC Spin Shot drop shot hooks , 6lb. FC line to top hook eye , 12" ~ 18"  6lb. FC line leader length tied to bottom eye , add a 1/8th oz. drop shot weight and then finish by nose hooking a Robo Worm in Aaron's Magic ... 'bout as good as it gets !!
