Robert Riley Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 So what's your favorite general cranking line, if your lines vary just say why. And include your poundage! Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted January 9, 2015 Super User Posted January 9, 2015 Depends on the bait, rod & application. Generally, this applies for me. Glass rod, deep baits - Braid Graphite or Composite rod, shallower baits - Mono A-Jay Quote
sprint61 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 14lb stren original I genrally only throw squarebills. Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 16lb bass pro flurocarbon xps. I went from cheap tribune monofilament to braid after a year or two of fishing. I just started paying more attention to my line, and have floor on my cranking and shaky head combos and haven't had any problems with this line, however some line conditioner helps with casting. Especially with those lighter cranks. Quote
The Next KVD Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 12lb P-Line 100% Fluorocarbon gets the majority of the work. Sometimes when fishing lipless cranks I may go to 15lb P-Line 100% Fluoro when I want to keep the bait up above the grass and then there are times where I throw all my cranks on 30/8 Suffix 832 braid when I want to rip my baits out of the grass. bigfishbk86 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 10-15 CXX. Personally, I don't ever see the need to use braid, and I crank weeds 95% of the time. Quote

Super User iabass8 Posted January 9, 2015 Super User Posted January 9, 2015 15# fluoro or 15# mono depending on where I'm fishing. Quote

Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Deep cranking open water, nothing larger dia. than 10# mono. In and around cover, the same line I'd use for any other bait. Quote
fisherrw Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 12 pound fluro is first choice then 12 or 14 pound mono Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted January 9, 2015 Super User Posted January 9, 2015 The recently re-introduced Berkley Iron Silk is a great cranking line. 10 lb is a great deep cranking line. 17 or 20 is a great square bill/rattle trap line. 1 Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted January 9, 2015 Super User Posted January 9, 2015 14lb stren original I genrally only throw squarebills. This or XL.. I generally use 12# though. I'm think about using 8# fluoro for finesse cranking applications. I've heard good things about InvizX and XL 100% Fluoro for spinning reels, so I'm gonna try one of those. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 9, 2015 Super User Posted January 9, 2015 I just depends on what kind of mood I am in and the water conditions but I use both FC and mono, either 10lb or 12lb. No braid for cranks.... Quote
nocellcontracts Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Last year, I used 10# Invizx. It's expensive line... but it broke on me several times in mid-cast - causing me to immediately get still and look around to see where my bait splashed into the lake - then troll over and pick it up. This year, I'm re-spooling with 12# Sunline Sniper. Hoping for better results. Quote
livetofish28 Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 40# braid or 40# braid with a leader depends on Rod and situation I am in. Either way there is always braid. Tight lines Andrew Quote
DirtyDeuceGoose Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 12lb Berkley 100% has never done me wrong Quote
