I don't have her accessorized yet. What do you guys consider to be the most important additions/mods? 1. Way to store tackle and rods ( typically a milk crate) 2. Anchor trolley. ( I prefer both sides) 3. Fish slime. You can do those in reverse order if you wish. 1 Quote

You can do those in reverse order if you wish. Picked up a milk crate bag that has 2 additional rod holders on it. Still need to get the crate itself. After taking her out I can see how important an anchor is. I was drifting all over the place. As for fish slime, well, I'm working on it. I recently moved here to East Tennessee from South Florida. I'm used to fishing pads, weeds and slop. Now I'm dealing with rocks and timber. I love the challenge of the new environment. 1 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 27, 2015 Super User Posted March 27, 2015 Still need to get the crate itself. I was at a Dunkin Donuts drive through the other day and there was a big pile of milk crates. I asked the clerk at the window and she told me to help myself to a few. 2 Quote
hawgmaster Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Is the 2015 jackson kayak cuda 12 a better deal than the feel free lure 11.5? even though the jackson kayak is a little bit more expensive than the feelfree, the cuda 12 comes with a couple rod holders, go pro mount, watter bottle, and a bigger middle hatch. also I feel like it has more mounting and customizable options. 1 Quote

Tough call. Add up those accessories cost by themselves, and do the math. You can customize any model/brand to your liking. You should take a test drive before you buy.... Check the online yak dealers, I am sure there are plenty of leftover 2014 models you can save hundreds on. Leave you more $ for the "incidentals" that will nickel and dime you to death, not must have's, but wants... Quote

It pretty much equals out so I would be paying for all those items in the price. I did find a 2014 cuda 12 for $1150 which is the same price as the feel free 11.5 Quote

I would take the Feelfree just because I like wide open decks unlike the Jackson the center storage will be in the way. Accessories can always be added to your likings. But the seat on the Jackson looks more promising. Feelfree seat is not bad too though. I should mention that the lure seat goes pretty high which I really like. Quote

Fin Stalker Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 yeah, its just a very tough decision. To many great things about both kayaks. Though the width on the feelfree is 36" compared to the cudas 31" I have no experience with the FF brand but I have paddled a few Cuda 12's and can say that I really like them. They paddle well, have some decent storage options and are stable ENOUGH to stand in. They kind of remind me of my Trident stability wise, I can stand in my Trident easily enough but it is nothing like standing in my Big Game. The extra few inches of width of the BGII makes a huge difference in the stability of the boat (hull design also comes into play). With that being said. Do you want a kayak that is fairly sleek and fast for a 12 footer that is stable enough to stand in or do you want a kayak that is super stable but slower? The next trade off is the cockpit. Do you want the nice open cockpit of the Lure which is nice because it gives you more than enough room to move around and lay your stuff or do you want the large center hatch that will allow you to store your rods in the hull during transport? Based on my experience I like a kayak the is easier to paddle that I can cover more water in with a little less effort but that's just me.... Quote

Another plus is the Jackson brand has like a 3 year warranty where feelfree doesnt. Quote
Mobydick Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I was not wanting to car top a 100 lb kayak much more, so a few weeks ago I bought a trailer from Harbor Freight. Its inspected and plate should be here this week. Over the weekend I finally got to build it up. Its not completely done yet, still needs sealed, painted, and some more bells and whistles, but here she is!Tight Lines,Ian 1 Quote
fluna Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I sold my Ascend FS10 sit in kayak last fall, want to try the Ascend FS12T si on top kayak. Everybody tells me much better to fish out of. I like that trailer from harbor freight. Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted March 31, 2015 Super User Posted March 31, 2015 Took delivery of my Ride 115X today. I'm ready to go now! 4 Quote
Jim Mac Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Nice. Is that the Subaru Outback? I'm considering the Outback for my next vehicle. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted March 31, 2015 Super User Posted March 31, 2015 Nice. Is that the Subaru Outback? I'm considering the Outback for my next vehicle. You are correct. It's still new to me as I've only had it for two weeks, but I do like it a lot. Plenty of room for whatever you need to haul around. I'm getting 23mpg which is a huge upgrade from 14. Just know that there are some very common maintenance things with Subarus. Once they're addressed you're good for another 100k. Luckily one of my good friends and someone I got into fishing is a certified Subaru master tech so labor is very affordable and it's done right. Head gaskets Timing belt Water pump Quote

hawgmaster Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 I think I am going to go with the 2015 jackson cuda 12 over the lure 11.5! 1 Quote
Crutch Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Just ordered the Ascend FS12T with a paddle, anchor trolley kit, and anchor. Having it shipped to my local Bass Pro store to save on some serious shipping costs. Excited to get out on the water, but I'm not in too much of a hurry because it's still kind of chilly here in NW Indiana. 1 Quote
Ring King Posted April 9, 2015 Posted April 9, 2015 I'm currently running a pair of Hobie Pro Angler 14's for my 12 year old son and myself. I have a 2010 PA14 with a Humminbird 587ci HD DI with the transducer rigged on a Mad Frogg Transducer Deployment Arm that is attached to the starboard mounting board. That boat was passed down to my son when I just purchased my new PA14. I have ordered a Humminbird 859ci HD DI for mine with another Mad Frogg Transducer Deployment Arm for the transducer mount. 2 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted April 11, 2015 Super User Posted April 11, 2015 My friend picked up a OK trident 13 angler today. I found it for him in CL. Now I won't be fishing alone. 3 Quote
LunkerFisher Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I'm the proud new owner of a sea eagle fast track 385ftg. 2 trips out in the water so far, but with no fish to show for it, having a new watercraft certainly helps take the sting out of getting skunked. I'm really liking this kayak and it is very stable to the point I can stand and fish, it tracks well, and I can put it in the water pretty much anywhere. Now I just need to figure out how to find some fish and get them to bite. Gonna add a fish finder soon which hopefully will help 1 Quote
duckmaster1 Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 Here is my kayak I fish out of. I bought this Perception prescador sport for fishing in November. I am a tall, 6'4 250 man and wanted something that would be good for my size. I like it and get around in it very well. installed a rod holder and fish finder. 2 Quote
