hopefully not for a while :)

I love the stand-up assist strap in my Frontier 12. One of these days you will appreciate the strap !!

So i took the boat out for about 3-4 hours yesterday and I am impressed.

Pros:

super stable-as stable as my commander

Easy to stand in and sit back down

very open and clean cockpit area-i can have 2 rods laid out in front of me fish another and have no issues

paddles surprisingly well for such a wide boat, speed wise it is faster than my commander 120, maneuverability is about the same

front storage could double as a cooler if you fill it with ice if you wanted to keep your catch

seat is great

floor silencing stuff is easy to apply and is pre cut to make things easier

lots of space behind the seat for your crate

Electronics pod is pretty awesome and will make mounting a transducer pretty easy

center console can hold tools used throughout the day within reach but not in the way

tracks for accessories pretty much everywhere

Cons:

Heavy

balance is ok and i have yet to figure out the best way to cartop it but with experience I am sure i will get better

Not crazy about the seat fastening system-it is in a track which is fine but the the thumb screws once removed allow the nut in the track to slide freely with potential for losing it.  If the boat was trailered this would be a non issue

High back on seat is comfy but given where the crate is located, it is a little problematic to reach items in the front of the crate

No great place for an anchor trolley, would have been nice to have some tracks in the right locations so you could set one up easily

Overall after one paddle of my boat i am pleased and am looking forward to rigging it up further.

How in the world do you car top a kayak like that?  There is no way I would try to lift my 78 pound 115 above my head.  lol.

I cartop my 115 on my Subaru Outback. You don't have to lift over your head. I slide it on from the back. Work smarter not harder.

Guess you gotta hit the gym lol....

the key is finding the balance point of the boat and lifting it with straight arms...easier shown than explained.  Once you get the one side on it is a piece of cake....i may get some rollers though because that would make it easier, i just don't like having something making it even higher up in the air.  A trailer is what i really want though and it will happen, just a matter of when.

I cartop my ride 115 on a Kia Sportage, to be honest lifting 80 lbs over my head is getting extremely old, but it is manageable if you do it correctly

Anything's possible with the right technique!  I know not every person can afford the Hully Rollers that angle off the rear of a rack system or even the load assist bar options out there, but maybe this can help you out some....

PA14 atop CRV

PA14 Loaded and ready to roll!

These are my last two Hobie Pro Angler 14's that are 13'8" in length, 38" in width and 118lbs!  The Dodge Caravan with the rack system was over 6'6" off the ground, and the CRV with racks installed is over 6'0" off the ground.  By using fulcrum and leverage techniques, you reduce the weight profile and can lift much more than you realize.

I have the Percetion Sport Access 11.5 angler.  It came with a scotty rod holder, anchor trolly, front hatch, paddle holder and I added an extra rod holder slot to put my fish finder.  I have been very happy with it so far especially for under $400.  Got caught in a storm the other day with high winds and I was impressed how well it handled.  It is a whole new experience kayak fishing.  You can get into a lot of spots that a big boat cant.

i use mine to sit down more than stand up....  it really helps to ease you down into the seat and not have a miss that sends you for a swim....

i rarely ever use it to stand though.

As luck would have it, they had the boat in stock in the color I wanted.......just got it home and have a soccer game to go to but after that I will put down the conseal floor pieces and the take it out and try it out. You can see the electronics pod is open all the way through so that will make it super easy to install the transducer and battery all in one spot. It is also easy to take in and out so that will be nice too. Man, I am looking forward to taking it out this afternoon!!!

It is kind of heavy to load and unload off the jeep but not too bad especially since i have only done it once so far. I am sure as soon as I load it up a few more times i will find the sweet spot for carrying it and loading.

First thing my wife said after she saw it was what's so different about this one than the last....of course I went with the safety route of it being self draining and having a better seat for my back :)

Can't wait to take it out this afternoon!!!

What kind of rack do you have on your wrangler? Did you have to do any body drilling to mount it? I want to get a rack for my wrangler but don't want to drill in the body.

I have a garvin industries adventure rack.  It does not require drilling into the body for installation.  This is the third marvin industries rack i have had on various Jeeps and they are top notch.  They do have some racks that require drilling so keep an eye out for that on the descriptions. My other two racks required drilling at is was not a big deal so don't let that stop you if there is a particular rack you are wanting, just make sure that any body drilling isn't for weight bearing purposes.

You must have invisible chocks back there.  If I try that, my yak slides back away from the car.  I'm getting better, but it is still a bit of a chore to load and unload on/from a full-size SUV.  I use Thule 'Glide and Set' - carpeting on back saddles allows it to slide up and rubber on the front saddles holds it fairly firm.

I used a yoga mat or a bathroom mat that has the sticky bottom.  It will sit atop your roof and over the edge and not budge.  Hope that helps out a bit more.

New boat is on it's way!  I went with a Commander C140.  If I like as much as I think I will, I might forego the ATAK until next year, and get a C120 little brother for it.

Really shouldn't be that hard. Just like doing a ****** or Squat Clean into an Overhead Press in the weight room...

The weight isn't an issue, it is the balance and managing soothing that is 14' long.  Your hands being a few inches one way or another makes a huge difference.

And on a SIde note, I went to go pick up some pieces to mount my transducer on my new kayak and they didn't have them in stock.  So i decided to go ahead and get an upgraded unit that will hopefully make catching a little more SImple.

Hopefully i can get it mounted and tested out this week....pics will be soon to follow

I lift my Ascend 128T & FeelFree Lure 11.5 on my Tundra's ladder racks without issue.  The Lure has solid handles on the sides and is easy to lift.  I lever my 128T up just like Hanover_Yakker's video.  Where there's a desire to kayak for bass, there's a way....

Your idea is right, but holding onto an Olympic bar verse a bulky/awkward kayak makes it a bit more difficult. Then factor in windows, paint, dents. I already cracked a taillight on my Subaru because the wind gusted as I was lifting and I had to ditch the kayak. $150 slip up happened in a few seconds. Luckily all my rods were far enough away that none got broke. I might of cried then.

We took the yaks out on the south branch of the Potomac today since WV had free fishing this weekend. Did a quick 4hr float. My buddy got to test his new Lure 11.5. I love my Ride 115X, but man that seat, the width of floor area, and how the floor area is flat. He has me a little bit jealous of his new toy. That's a nice setup.

The new Lure yaks are definitely nice. Very tempting if I

were in the market today. They do the wheel-in-the-keel

right as far as I've seen.

Yes, they've got a wheel in the keel.  I bought an 11.5 last April and it's the favorite of my fleet.  I live on the ocean (Quincy Bay, MA) and find it's better in chop than my 128T.  My daughter's Redfish 10 is too small for me, I don't use it.  Of the fishing kayaks I tried, the Lure was my pick because of the wheel, the flat standing area, and its ALL DAY COMFORTABLE seat.
