I've never rolled a fishing boat, not once.

I hadn't either until yesterday haha

I remember reading on here "it's not if, but when you'll turtle your kayak" I also remember kinda getting a laugh out of it. Jokes on me now. We were on the Potomac River. We've floated many of times before with zero issues. Yesterday was just a bad day for some reason. At least it was hot out and the swim was refreshing.

The closest I've come to rolling was standing up and peeing out of my yak- and I have a POS future beach 10'er sit-in... Still managed to save it, but I definitely got pee all over the place haha

Added this today. Now I can take pics hands free, and maybe listen to some music on my Galaxy S5. Don't have to worry about water screwing up my phone, it's waterproof.  :eyebrows:

Old thread but figured this is the correct place to post this.

I use this kayak for tandem paddling with the kiddo and wife, as well as fishing. The front seat can slide to the middle and be used solo, leaving me lots of room in the back seat for my gear / rods. Bought the Wilderness Systems Pungo dashboard, fits the Pamilco perfectly, and mounted a Deeper Pro+ fish / depth finder on it. I use an old Nexus 7 tablet as my display for the Deeper. This setups been a great all around kayak for weekend paddling trips or all day fishing trips solo or tandem.

Although I just sold my FS128T, and am in the market for a new yak.  I have a question about length.

Is there anyone out there that HAD a 12ft'er that downsized to a 10ft'er and regretted it?

I have my eyes on a couple kayaks in the 10fty range.  not due to cost, but rather size.  I had the 12'8" and it was a lot of yak.  Front and rear never got used.  So a heavy yak that wasn't utilized completely, was rather wasted money.

I thought of the Pescador Pro 100.  A good 40 ponds lighter.  No in hull storage, but I never used it when I had the Ascend.  So if needed, a dry bag would solve that.

I went from 10 to 12, in order to get pedals....needed better seat, as well.  But if I could have gotten that in a 10 that I liked, I would have.  I agree that weight and out-of-water handling is huge difference

I just ordered a new Feelfree Dorado 125 yesterday which is an upgrade in size etc., but have been fishing in a Feelfree Lure 10 for two years and I loved it. It may have a few perks like in hull storage that perhaps other yaks don't offer in 10 ft models. Has a great adjustable seat which is super comfy, and a wheel in the keel for easy handling to/from the water. Weighs in at 70 pounds, weight capacity 350 pounds.

I'm glad to see  this thread active again. It's amazing when you think how fast kayaks and kayak accessories have evolved in just 10-15 years. When I purchased my first yak there was no YakAttack (there was only Scotty) yet, and very few YouTube channels or sites covering rigging. That's when DIY was really DIY.

I sold my 128T and bought a Lure 11.5 w/overdrive.  I hardly notice going from a 12’8” to 11’5” kayak at all.

The Lure has in-hull storage and an all-day-comfortable seat.  I get almost 4 mph under normal pedaling.

Best of luck picking out a new ‘yak.

Great rig. How easy it to take the bow mount trolling motor on and off, and what model Minn Kota if you don't mind me asking.

I got a smokin' deal on a brand new 55lb powerdrive. 100 bones at cabelas.. not sure why they had it marked down so much. Must have been a mistake but I took full advantage of it. It took some time getting use to the foot control. I'm so use to my 101 fortrex cable driven motor. I almost can't stand using it for that one reason. But the plus was a small footprint mount and if I want to spend the coin i can set this motor up with spot lock down the road.

I set this rig up with a quick detach bracket that I bolded to the bow with big ol' anchor bolts. I also setup the wiring with anderson quick disconnects. It literally takes a couple seconds to take the motor off the mount and 5-10 seconds to disconnect the power cord and foot control... maybe 15 seconds max all together.

Can you pop a wheelie with that rig? 55lbs of thrust seems like a lot of juice for a yak. ?

Heck i thought i could pull tubers before i stuck'r in the water for the first time. lol

no it's not as snappy as one would think. But if i dont pay attention to what direction the motors pointing I can definitely see it dumping me over the side.
