JohnnyFishing Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Looking to expand the fishing territory and as a resident of a Chicago Suburb the southern part of Wisconsin seems to be a great place to start exploring. Have a kayak and am willing to put in day long trips to fish. Any suggestions for great lakes or rivers with access? Quote
scooter520 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Lake Geneva and Delvan are both great Lakes . Awesome multi species lakes. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted January 8, 2015 Super User Posted January 8, 2015 There's quite a few good lakes down there (at least from what I hear). Only trouble is most are super busy. Quote
papajoe222 Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Although most of the lakes in that area are busy on the weekends, some have no wake restrictions from around 8:00PM until 10:00AM and even the ones that don't are usually not overly crowded during those hours. If you are a multi species angler, or don't mind an occasional pike, the bigger lakes are the way to go. If you're concerned about rough water, or are looking to target only bass or walleye, Como, Elizabeth, Marie, Powers or the Twin Lakes won't disappoint you. Quote
zeth Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 You could even head up to Milwaukee 90 minutes or less away and catch smallies all day long by the bucket load in the Milwaukee river with a few largemouth and northern mixed in. Quote

But I did guide at night and there are some PIGS to be caught on these two lakes! I had a 7.2 smallmouth and a 8 1/2 lb. large mouth out of Delavan. I know there are bigger smallmouth in these lakes. Lots of access and lots of smallmouth. Quote
