Do you have any pics of how your electric steer trolling motor is mounted?

Looking for a better way than I have my Motorguide xi5 installed........I feel like it hangs off unsupported way to far. But that is how it is with Motorguides installation information.

They don't seem to be designed for use on fiberglass bass boats......it's the down sweeping arched gunwales that cause the problem.

Any pics or ideas?

Thanks

The electric steer motors hang over a bit. Here's my Terrova

Yeah.......if you look at mine.......50% of it hangs off unsupported.........where the gunwale starts to roll down at the 'ui' in Motorguide. Just seems like way too much and I think it vibrates/makes noise as a result.

Seriously planning on going back to cable steer......I'll miss the electric steer features.

Minn Kota makes a sliding mount for their motors. It allows the motor to slide back during transport. Doesn't do you any good, but it's an option

Did you call the company & ask for Technical Support people ?   Do that.

When I installed my Terrova, I deployed the motor, and then moved the mount back until the shaft cleared the gunwhale by about a quarter inch.  That's where I anchored the mount.  Works like a charm, but there is still a bit of overhang, say three inches.

If motor guide would have designed it without that big curved beck..........it would have been flat/straight bottom and a sliding bracket and there would be no issues with it. And if Minn Kota would have arranged for lowrance to work with their unit there would be Jo issue.

I'm just at a loss as to why Motorguide and Minn Kota joined forces to thwart me?

I don't like being thwarted!

Add Bass Pro  to your un favorites as the buy up product lines.  Monopolies & price fixing are standard now.  Quality and selection goes down the tube.

Best pictures I can do from work.  Mine is set up like Long Mike's, as per the instructions!

it looks pretty close to me.  When it's deployed, how much space is there between the shaft or drive unit that turns it and the bow.  It looks like there is only going to be minimal space between them once you deploy it.  If you get it back to far, it's going to hit the bow and not be able to deploy.

I picked up a older minkota pd40- and mounted it just as Long Mike did. Works perfect. Maybe a pick of yours deployed would help to see how much gap there is between them? Hope you get it worked out-good luck-KDW96

Maybe to close causing vibration noise ?
