Blaker87 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I love to crank and my best producer has always been my rapala jointed shad wrap in baby bass. This year I was planning on stocking up on a few more cranks with a maximum diving depth of 8ft. And decided to get a couple more baby bass since the rapalas are the only ones I have currently. So I hopped online and found that the market is actually pretty scarce. I really like the rapala shallow jointed shad wrap but the only other crank I could find was the Yamamoto, and I don't care much for that design. A little too "cool", not enough realism. So with that said, any thoughts on what I should get or look for? Quote
KritterGitter Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I know its another Rapala but Ive had good success with the scatter rap cranks in baby bass... Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 7, 2015 Super User Posted January 7, 2015 I have largemouth bass and smallmouth bass patterned Bomber Model A's . They both catch fish well. They are also both pretty old and I dont know if they are still made . Quote
corn-on-the-rob Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Wiggle warts are awesome for that dive range Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 7, 2015 Super User Posted January 7, 2015 Only you care about realism, bass don´t. 1 Quote
Blaker87 Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Bomber square A's are pretty much the only thing I use in shallow water. I think I have one of every color. Unfortunately none of those colors are baby bass. I looked up the scatter rap and the wiggle wart but neither come in baby bass. I'm also really wanting to find a crank that is jointed. I believe that's also a big part of why my rapalas are so successful. Quote

Blaker87 Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 Good call. Should've dug deeper. Those look cool. Anyone got any input on the new bills rapala has? Quote
KritterGitter Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 As in the rounded bill? All the scatter rap versions have em, suppose to give move of a 'evasive' action. Ive used the shallow cranks with great success this year, although some people haven't had much luck with em. I have a couple and my best colors are the baby bass and the smash. I do a steady retrieve with a few quick turns of the reel handle every few feet... Quote
fisherrw Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 these are great cranks have been a great producer for me too. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted January 7, 2015 Super User Posted January 7, 2015 I'm pretty sure the H20 academy brand has a baby bass color for their hard baits. Quote
MassBass Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Dt4 baby bass, bandit baby bass, and I also have the yamamoto baby bass but I haven't had the pleasure of using it. Quote

ChrisWi Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Only you care about realism, bass don´t. ditto. I don't think the bass cares about that shiny finish when it buzzes past its head. Quote
JeziHogg Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Take a look at livetarget lures if you're looking for a realistic look. 1 Quote
MassBass Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Like the baitball lures? Seems like livetarget is fully invested in this baitball thing, who knows if they work? Quote
Blues19 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Manns, Bagley, Bomber and Storm Arashi cranks all have a baby bass pattern. The Storm Arashi is my favorite of those. Its not quite as realistic as the Rapala, but its pretty good. I like it more than the Yamamoto. Quote
Blaker87 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Ya I think im set. lol Thanks guys! Quote

papajoe222 Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 If you're looking for a brand that won't suck your wallet dry if you loose a couple, Bandit and Norman (Splatter Bass) both offer a reasonably priced bait. Quote
GrifGod Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I'm telling you man, try out the Bandit 100 series crankbait in baby bass! The thing literally catches fish wherever I throw it. Just make sure you upgrade the trebles. Quote
