JGBassinAL Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I just want to say that the last time I posted about a reel that I had with ABEC 9 bearings I had multiple people respond and PM me saying that they couldn't be real ABEC 9 bearings cause they should have been a lot more expensive. I had Dan at ReelEx put mine in and he is very reputable. I'm just surprised no one has stoned you yet for mentioning them in your first post. Because supposedly, they can't help any more than ABEC 5 bearings do. Or that's what I was told. Quote
Trey Harpel Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 The abec 9s are 100$ retail...Ive got 3 sets in different reels, but yea you cant really tell the difference.. I use to have a set of FULL ceramics and they were about 200$ or so retail...stupid fast, but loud as hell and again not much gains, but I get bearings from all over to try out.. 2 Quote
Super User Angry John Posted January 8, 2015 Super User Posted January 8, 2015 Don't think a bearing swap is going to do much for you. A faster spool like the steez 103 will do the most for piching. I love my steez reels!!! 1 Quote

I love my steez reels!!! this is not a 103 as it has the SV spool which is a much better spool and is the 105 flat spool... Bearings are just because... 1 Quote

Super User Angry John Posted January 8, 2015 Super User Posted January 8, 2015 Saw on TT that you dislike the 103. I have 100's and want to roll a 103 spool for a bit to compare to the new sv spools. The 103 is supposed to be a love hate thing. Quote
Trey Harpel Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 I actually couldnt stand the 103....A bearing upgrade did help the consistency though with casting and pitching... I was a tad hesitant getting the New steez, but so far it seems MUCH better.. Quote

The 103 is ok for pitching, but it's basically trash for most casting applications. If someone wants to upgrade a Steez, the RCS1016 is easily the best overall spool. Quote
