I have some rods built on the RX7, RX8, and Revelation Rainshadow blanks. I put the Revelation blank on par sensitivity wise with Dobyns Champion Extreme. Not 100% sure on pricing but I'm almost positive they are in the $100 range if not a little less...Check with Batson! 1 Quote

Super User Angry John Posted January 7, 2015 Super User Posted January 7, 2015 The mhx blanks are good, and I like the orange lamiglas excel blanks Quote
weedsnager1 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I started to use Mhx from mudhole, but after dealing with their high shipping prices and restocking fees when you return and item, I've went with Hydra blanks http://hydrafishing.com Quote
Hogsticker Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Batson Immortal, Phenix Ultra, Hydra, and Mhx high mod are all good blanks around the 100 dollar price point. 1 Quote
papajoe222 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 They were unknown to me until a couple of years ago, but the Baston blanks rank right up there with many of the more expensive blanks. More bang for the buck, especially at that price point. 1 Quote
uncustered Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Same for the mhx blanks. If you're near Winston Salem, the ICRBE ( international custom rod builders exposition) show is February 21-22. You can but blanks from all manufacturers, as well as the parts. Best way to save shipping $$$ and you get to fondle the blanks as you make your choices. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Batson Immortal, Phenix Ultra, Hydra, and Mhx high mod are all good blanks around the 100 dollar price point. X2. In this list, the MHX- HM and Batson are a notch above the other two IMO. The Pheonix K2 blanks are nice but double the budget (but not performance) Quote

More bang for the buck, especially at that price point. Actually we are the biggest small company you probably haven't heard of.. LOL Batson Enterprises is actually just a brand holder. The blanks are under the RainShadow label. We have done a poor job in the past about marketing who we are and what we sell. We have started to change this the past 1.5 years or so. Believe it or not, we supply about 80% of the whole fishing industry on the OEM rod side their parts!! From tip top to but cap and everything in between!! Last year we signed a couple of bigger names in fishing. Take a look: www.teamrainshadow.com ( Keith Combs and Anthony Gagliardi on the Bass Side ) Looking for opinions on best blanks around the $100 price point, freshwater Bass fishing, casting, from the 7' to 8' range in different model applications. Thank you for your time. If you get a chance, take a look: www.rainshadowrodblanks.com The Revelation line is a very great lineup in the sub $100 price range!! It has the equal levels of everything you are looking for! But the strength, is to be wowed!! We have people fishing TUNA on our REVC76MH stick!! Go to our Facebook if your doubting! It also has amazing sensitivity and lightness. Other competitors are starting to copy it since it is the best over all round. Now if you want more sensitivity but almost the same amount of strength, for a little more you can get into the RainShadow Immortal line! There is a couple of reviews of people on other forums of this blanks: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/147620-batson-immortaleternity-reviewimpressions/?hl=batson Check with Batson, our newest sponsor! http://batsonenterprises.com/ Thank you so much! BTW, we just partnered with GARY LOOMIS and his new company North Fork Composites!! So now you can buy either a RainShadow Blank or a NFC Blank. This! Thank you so much!! The Revelation is a nice line! Wait till you try the RainShadow Eternity2 and Immortal lines!! The Revelation is sub $100 on most models and the Immortal is a bit more. Thank you for being a great customer of ours!! Batson Immortal, Phenix Ultra, Hydra, and Mhx high mod are all good blanks around the 100 dollar price point. Hogsticker gonna go RainShadow Immortal?? Lets ask a more important question, who is the designer of the blanks?? Our designer is Mike Thorson! He is only one of a small handful of designers that fish and know what it takes to make it fish well. He was also the head product manager at St Croix before he came to work for us. Now to count how many designers that know how to fish in all environments, well that is the better question to ask Same for the mhx blanks. If you're near Winston Salem, the ICRBE ( international custom rod builders exposition) show is February 21-22. You can but blanks from all manufacturers, as well as the parts. Best way to save shipping $$$ and you get to fondle the blanks as you make your choices. Yes please come out to the ICRBE show and touch and feel for yourself! We will have some models of our entire lineup built to "see" for yourself! X2. In this list, the MHX- HM and Batson are a notch above the other two IMO. The Pheonix K2 blanks are nice but double the budget (but not performance) Batson doesnt have a line of blanks but RainShadow which is one of Batson's brands ... Have you had a chance to check out our new RainShadow Eternity2 and Immortal line? Hogsticker Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 DVT is one of, if not the premier builder on this forum. Chances are if you've been fishing a while and owned several rods, one or a few of them was built on a Rainshadow blank and you didn't know it. I have been able to use my Rx8+ a lot this year. It's the 6'9 medium Senko blank. The sensitivity and taper is awesome. Probably my favorite blank thus far. It's still available and on sale at get bit for a killer price. I think my next build will be on a new Eternity blank, though I'm a little disappointed in the limited offerings. Perhaps they will add to the line up? Quote

I agree, DVT is one of the premier builders here! And you are correct. If you fish with built rods, 80% chance your fishing with one of our products. We just don't go out of our way nor due to agreements we have with customers let everyone know about what they are using. The RX8+ is a great blank, the Eternity2 and the Immortal is the GEN2 or refinement of blank models that were great! With the Eternity2 blank, we should have covered 90% of the most common techniques. Is there something you were specifically looking for? The ETES68M is the perfect blank for you if your more of a finesse fisherman for throwing the Senkos. If you like doing big hook sets, go with the ETEC68M. The same goes in the Immortal lineup as well. Btw, by the time you put your tip top and but on your rod it will come out to about 6'9"-6'10" depending on your setup. Hope this helps. Quote

I'd like to see some moderate fast actions or popping blanks in the Eternity line up. Also some lighter actions in the casting blanks (though there is no reason I can't build a casting rod out of a spinning blank). What I'd really like to see are some 2 piece blanks in this line up. Nobody has higher end 2 piece blanks. I needed to build a few travel rods and turned to the JDM market cause I couldn't find any blanks that tickled my fancy. I'm one of those goof balls who likes to fish reaction baits on nice blanks, just because I can. I have an RX8 popping blank I use for all my shallow, mid, and lipless cranking. It's fantastic. While we're on the topic, I can appreciate a painted blank, but there is something groovy about a raw, unfinished blank. Are you the same rep over on Tackle Tour? Quote

We are trying to vary our models and lineups within each models. The Immortal lineup does have Popping actions. They are fantastic!! And for your lighter actions in casting, you got it bud!! Build a spin blank out of it. You will be happier! We are constantly looking at adding models. Maybe we will add a few 2 piece UHMR models to the Eternity2 and the Immortal lineups, but that is up to engineering. Btw, if you like the RX8 popping the Immortal is that on steroids! We understand that people like both painted and unpainted blanks. They both offer pros and cons. We might be doing a "Limited Run" of non coated blanks, but again that is up to engineering. We have several reps across all the boards talking. Everyone is very knowledgeable about our product offering. Please don't hesitate to ask! Quote
