What Are The Pros Doing Now?

To prepare for the Bassmaster Classic next month? It would be great to learn what prep they are going through before the Classic begins to gear up.

I know that Ike went on a trip in late December to some Pre Fishing. That's about all I know.

I don't know, but I passed over Hartwell on Sunday and it looked like chocolate milk.  Water seemed to be down about 8ish feet from the shoreline.

Would be cool to know what kind of prep is taking place right now and then how much they think it will change between now and the tournament.

Most of them are finishing up doing some of there seminars and are getting there gear ready for the classic by getting there boat in working condition and tournament ready

Elites usually prepare for Classic after the AOY Championship. Some do take time off to be with the family cause the elites are always on the road. Some Elites work with their sponsors, designing baits, merchandises. Making sure the new 2015 boats in a tournament ready mode.

Studying past logs and topo maps.

Studying maps of the lake.

Discussing baits to use with other pros not in the Classic that live and fish in the area.

Preparing their tackle.

Preparing their SUV.

Preparing their boat.

Checking the motor.

Checking the trolling motor.

Checking and cleaning, oiling and greasing all reels.

Checking all rod line guides.

Making sure they have backup rods and reels.

Planning when to spool the new line on the reels before blastoff.

Making sure to have enough of the favorite line to respool after each day.

Checking the electrical system.

Discussing what back up parts the engine guys need to have in their trailer at the Classic.

Double checking room accommodations.

Deciding to bring the wife/girlfriend and the kids.

Checking out Google Earth to locate points, drop offs, hidden creeks or channels.

Making sure their health insurance is in force.

Making sure their watercraft liability policy is in force.

Deciding what to bring to eat and drink on the water.

Contemplating the song to be played when they enter the auditorium.

Getting their cold weather underwear ready.

Getting their cold weather clothes ready.

Telling other participants lies and misdirection's to screw them up.

Talking to their best buddies about how each is going to attack the lake.

Consider paying some of the local guides to prefish for them during the off limits time.

Bringing back up parts for the hull and especially the plug.

Making sure wife packs enough back up clothes just in case they get wet or fall overboard.

Going to church for two straight months before the tournament.

Having enough magic markers to sign caps, tee shirts, sweatshirts, etc.

Going to the dentist to have teeth whitened for all the pictures the fans will take with them and at the weigh-in.

Making sure they bring over the counter cold meds and any prescription drugs they are taking.

Reviewing the tournament off limits areas, if any.

And last, but not least, taking along their good luck charm or doll or trinket, etc.

And whatever else they need to do to have a successful adventure and some fun with the family.

 

That about sums it up. But I am sure other guys can add to this list.

Secretly changing the baits they are throwing so no one knows what their modifications are.

Planning to run from Raider.

Shooting some video for their web sites.

Practicing shaking hands and smiling when they get bumped from the chair by a fellow angler.

Not scratching places that you can't show on TV while on the water.

Sharpening hooks.

Changing hooks.

Planning their attack on prefishing days.

Taking some ulcer meds with them.

Taking some headache meds with them.

Taking some sore muscle pain meds with them.

 

And it you give it some thought you can continue the list.
