I really like Sunline Supernatural Mono for my soft plastics.  I tried flouro for them a while back, but 1) didn't notice that big a drop-off to mono; maybe that's just me though, and 2) I wasn't quite as proficient with a baitcaster as I am now and lost a lot of flouro to birdnests, which wasted a lot of money.  Now that I'm better with a baitcaster, I still like the Sunline.

About how long of a leader would i need? Im fishing in a pretty crowded area

There are many topics regarding leader length.

90% of my reels have braided line on them (baitcaster and spinning).  Generally I usually make the leader the length of the rod I'm using.  This way it gives me some extra line to retie lures.

What does fishing in a crowded area have to do anything with leader length? Have a leader that just long enough so that the connecting knot does not get into the reel.

Why are you fishing in a crowd anyway?

You shouldn't be casting the leader length.  It should go through the guides just fine.  I think that was his concern.  Double Uni knot works great.  Also the reason why I make it the length of the rod because it won't get reeled into the reel unless you reel the lure right through the tip of the 1st guide.  (You're always going to have some line slack for casting)

Use what you're comfortable with, as you gain experience you'll find what you like and don't like about it.  Adjust your choices as you see fit at that point.  It seems that many people try to 'force it' when it comes to line...If you can't tell the difference yet why switch?

Bottom line:  Yes, there are certain techniques that can be optimized with certain line choices.  BUT, whether that is advantageous to you or not is another story.  That is something you'll find out as you spend more time on the water.

Another thing to remember, your personal equipment also plays a big role in the decision process.  I can tell you what I use for each technique, but I've got a 20' boat and 12 to 15 rods on board all the time...It's no big deal for me to have one rod dedicated to one specific thing and leave it in the rod locker til I need it.  If someone only has 3 rods and travels by foot or small boat they don't really have that option, they need their gear to be somewhat universal...This will effect their line decisions.

Take what you read with a grain of salt, get out on the water and actually evaluate your line choice.  If you feel it's adequate, great!  If you feel it could be improved on, start experimenting!

I cant find yozuri anywhere here i see it gets such high praise here. I have found pline cx at academy though

It is often on sale on the internet at some of the big name stores. Last month I bought a couple

of 600 yards spools for $8.99 - 25% and free shipping (bundled with some other stuff).  Right

now the 275 yard spools are on sale for $4.49-$6.49 depending on size.

This is my simple suggestion:

Spinning tackle:    #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid

Baitcasting gear:   #12

I dare anybody to prove me that nylon lacks of sensitivity.

I agree. Majority of fishing I do is from shore, and the buoyant nylon line helps me avoid snags quite a bit more than fluorocarbon. You can always invest in high quality nylon or copoly line that can last you almost the entire season, and not lose out too much on sensitivity.

I use 10lb suffix performance braid on my spinning rod and use it for plastics and it does pretty well I feel everything other than missed fish lol
