I'm looking into buying a new 2015 pro 160 or 170, im looking to buy new because of the warranties that come with a new boat and financing options. I Went to bass pro and looked at both boats and they seem perfect for me and what I need in a boat. I've read a lot of reveiws on the boats and have heard a lot of people having issues with welds breaking and over all quality problems. Anybody on here own either of these boats? And if so are they worth buying?

Thanks

Being they are aluminum boats, you can not pound them into weather, you will break welds.  It's like taking one of those nice SUV's that those "soccer mom's" drive offroading.  It's not ment for it.  Those aluminum bass boats aren't made to take the abuse the V Mod's are.  If you don't beat it up you shouldn't have those issues.

I bought a new Pro 170 w/Merc. 40HP this summer and used it a LOT this season.   I wasn't expecting much, but I've got to say I've been very impressed with it.  No complaints... I'm loving it so far.

I fish the lower end of Lake Champlain between Ticonderoga and Whitehall, and it's mostly protected water and generally calm.  The boat is perfect for this kind of fishing.  If I was going to be fishing the northern part of the lake, I'd be looking for something better suited to the big water.

Tight lines,

Bob

Too bad you are not closer to Thomson Ga, while at my mothers 90th birthday party today, a friend ask me about buying his 92 model 17' Tracker with 40 Evinrude he's wanting to sell for $2,500.

I'm half way thinking about buying it to take to Texas instead of my Javelin, but not sure I will have time before I go. He said the seats are out, but has them and they are good, where he was paying a guy to put new carpet in it, but the guy got killed in a car wreck before getting them back in.  He has had heart surgery and

other medical problems so he's giving up on the idea of being able to ever use it again.  It has not been run in four years but is kept under a shed.  As for the TM, he just said its a big 24  volt, which big to him could be 45# thrust, don't know.

Thanks for the input guys, I also just found a dealer in my area with new lund 1600 fury tillers. They look like they have a lot more storage and open space by not having the console witch I like. A fury might end up being my better choice.

Welcome to BR. There is an on going thread for the exact boat you are asking for. Here is the thread. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/148764-bass-tracker-pro-170/ Tracker's Pro 160's and 170's are good boats. My recommendation is to get the 170 and max HP now rather than later.(unless you are fishing HP restricted lakes)  I should have done it 14 yrs ago, life evolves and the $$ may not be there to upgrade to a new motor.

Let me know what you find.  I've been looking at the 170 for a while.  I kind of ruled out the 160 because it has no rod locker.  It really is just a decked mod v jon boat.  The 170 has a little more to offer I think.  A bit more deck space, rod locker, more storage, etc.  I know you're looking for the warranty, but if you are in need of a boat and are torn between the 160 and the 170, try to find a 2013 165.  If I could find one to the fish the HP restricted lakes that I want the boat for, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

I havent had a chance to get out to BPS or a dealer to stand in either boat yet, but from videos and pictures that I've been looking at, the 160 looks like it is MUCH less stable than the 170.

Hardcore, I was thinking the same things you are, the 160 doesn't have enough storage and the fact that it doesn't have the enclosed rod locker make me not want to buy it. And the 170 with the 40hp is just out of my price range. That's what's making me look at the Lund fury. It's a tiller so that opens up a lot more space and it has 2 rod lockers for up to 12 rods. And from the pics it seems to have more storage than the 170. I'm not fishing hp restricted lakes but the boats equipped with the bigger motors are out of my price range. The fury with a 25 hp is a few grand cheaper than the 160 with the same outboard.

When I started looking for my bass boat, I was concerned about some of the negative press. However, I soon realized these bass boat companies are all competing against each other for sales. After conducting my own research, I purchased a new 2013 Tracker 190TX. Check out my pics.

your welds will be fine- if not they will be warrantied.  There are issues with all boats, and for an entry level price range you may not have the best of everything, but it will be a solid dependable boat.  I beat mine up in the weather/water every time I use it.  5 years later and taking good care of it= still runs and looks like new.  I have a 175
