I use trilene xl most of the time. The new formula is fantastic. Ive caught quite a few large fish on  12 lb test and it hasnt failed me yet.

Stren or Trilene. They are both very similar lines

What exactly will you be using the line for? That would play a big part. Overall though I have to say trilene. For braid I say power pro if you can find it, I get mine at Walmart.

thanks for all the replies!seems like the majority says trilene is the winner.my wall mart does carry red label,832&power pro but I mostly use monofilament, especially now that I have extra fast action rods as my primary rods.ex-fast action plus braid makes me a little nervous.this line will be for both casting&spinning reels.

I like Spiderwire, but I don't have a ton of brand experience line-wise.

just buy the trilene xl and be done with it, that is if you're just opposed to braid.  but i would go with the braid personally, then if you ever want to get more versatile, you tie on a leader and start fishing.

You should have red label and power pro. Based off what every walMary I've been in carries, that would be the two choices
