This boat has been OUTSTANDING for me and I really don't really have to sell it. This boat needs absolutely nothing, it is completely turnkey. It has ALWAYS started with a turn of the key. No priming, no choking, and you don't even need to squeeze the fuel line bulb EVER. The boat has been meticulously maintained, winterized, and stored indoors. The bad: Boat has minor scratches consistent with the age of the boat, the skeg has a chunk missing from the front of it from the last owner trying to put the boat on trailer w/motor down (it does NOT affect performance or else I would've replaced it) Quote

Sun Fish Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 How long ago did he break the skeg? If it was recent and the reason he's selling the boat the lower unit may be compromised. A broken skeg is also a safety issue, many recommend having it cut of and welded but that in itself is also a safety issue if you speak to Mercury. I would add in the cost of a new lower unit for this reason or as a good reason to talk down the price. Otherwise if everything else checks out good with the motor, it seems like a pretty nice deal.
