LakeAnnaBasser Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Im going to start making jigs this winter in my free time and i would like to know what you all think is the best 3/8 oz jig molds. It is for jig and pig. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 The best isnt a good choice. You really need to look at your application. Head designs work differently in different structures. My personal favorites are the poisen and round head. But everyone will have something different to say. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted November 26, 2007 Super User Posted November 26, 2007 I am partial to the banana, football and arke heads. Like GMAN said. You have to fit the head to how you will be using it. As far as size goes, I throw 3/8 less than I do 1/4 or 1/2 oz. Quote
basscatcher8 Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 i have the banana mold and football mold and mainly use the banana jig more. I hit on a configuration with it last summer that was doing real well in a 1/4 ounce size. 3/8 works well too. Im gonna look for a good head to use for timber. Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted November 27, 2007 Author Posted November 27, 2007 What style would be best for rocks and what style would be best for brush piles and timber Quote
Cory20 Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Football heads do well in rocks and arky or poison tail would be better suited for brush, timber, grass Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted November 29, 2007 Super User Posted November 29, 2007 I agree that the football is a pretty good rock jig. However, I have started using the banana in rocks and it does as well for me, if not a little better, than the football. I do quite a bit of brush fishing. I have found that going to a smaller hook helps in brush. I use a 2/0 for my brush jigs. They don't get hung as badly but still catch fish. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted November 30, 2007 Super User Posted November 30, 2007 Most of the time I just use a round head unless it is a swimming jig then I like the poison tail with the 30 degree round bend hook. Allen Quote
