Bass2124 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Looking to add some of these to my limited el cheapo jerk bait collection. These seem to have great reviews and are very reasonably priced. I would love to have the money to buy some LC pointer 100's but they are above my budget and I lose a lot of baits where I fish. A little hesitant to buy LC pointers when I could buy several more of these Rogues and feel a little less of a hit when I break one of these off. Can anyone comment on how they compare? Is it apples to oranges? Quote
a1712 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I like the Rogue, also like Long A's and Lucky-E-Strike's. All 3 won't break the bank and def. catch fish. Some accuse L-E-S of knocking off the 110. Brian. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted January 3, 2015 Super User Posted January 3, 2015 Can't beat them for the price Quote
papajoe222 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I'm assuming you fish from shore if you loose a lot of baits. I would recommend a floating jerkbait, but reguardless you get what you pay for. I fish Rogues and Long A's almost exclusively as I only own one Pointer. The action and attitude of the baits at rest are different for all three. I haven't lost one in a few season, but if or when I do, I'll be replacing whatever i lost with a Pointer. Long pause or short, they seem to work better than either of the others, but that's just my opinion. If I were loosing two or three a year, I'd opt for one of the other two. Quote
Super User Gundog Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 I have a few rogues but only one lucky craft. Its a pointer and I found it in a tree I compare rogues with rapala's original floaters or countdowns. I think rogues give off more flash and noise than rapalas. The lucky craft is too expensive (even if I didn't pay for it) to use so it sits in my sportsmans room and collects dust. Hope this helps. Quote
SMB101 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I myself use both and catch fish on both. But honestly I tend to reach for the Rogue most often. Just seems I catch more with it. Can't go wrong with it. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 You have to be careful when getting Rogues because there are a bunch of different models, I'm a Rogue fanatic and even though I have a bunch of Pointers and some Megabass Vision 110s I still put the Rogue ahead of them as long as you choose the right one. All summer I use them where ever I see clear water I use a floating rogue, the ARB 1200 series, those are the 0'-2' divers and then there is the ADRB series which dives 0'-4'. For suspending models you have the suspending rogue which is 4.5" and dive to 6' and the Limited Rogue which has Gamakatsu hooks, dives to 6' and is 5.5". Then you have the super rogue at 5" that dives to 4' and suspends and the super rogue jr. which is 4 and 1/8" and dives to 6' and suspends. Now we also have the perfect 10 rogue and the elite 8 rogue, the perfect 10 dives to 10' and suspends and the elite 8 dives 6'-8' and suspends. If you get the right rogue you'll catch fish and I've had days where the Pointer was better but I also have days in which the rogue out fished the expensive models. I don't consider the rogue cheap, I look at them as premium baits that are inexpensive because they are well made and while the hooks are light and will bend and break, they are very sharp but also bronze which means if not dry when put away , will rust. I love using jerkbaits and I believe every brand is worth at least trying but having several with different characteristics is essential, sometimes the wobble of a suspending Pointer is what triggers the strike, another time it may be the roll or the sound of a rogue that does it, or the erratic sideways movement of an X-rap but the point is each bait has a unique property that makes them good and in the case of the rogue, it has a certain roll with sound that just makes fish hit and just about every year my larger fish seem to come off the rogue. 1 Quote
timsford Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I use rogues, long a's, pointers, xraps and all sorts of other jerkbaits. Rogues definitely work. I like the smaller suspending size in the chrome colors Quote

Great info smalljaw.....I will get a bunch of these rogues and give them a try. Quote
