Scott, they're darn close to a treatment that does. Hopefully in our lifetime we can be done with insulin.

That would be life changing to a massive population of people!

Stem cells… they cured it mice. Hopefully it won't take 20 years.

Cyclops you may have balls, but you have all the charisma of a rattle snake. I find your posts offensive and mean spirited. One of the things that brings many of us to this site is spirited conversation without rancor. You need to tone it down or find someplace else for your vitriol. Just my opinion of course...

I'm diabetic. No, doctors can't cure diabetes. But without them, I'd probably be dead from the disease by now. I'm glad I don't agree with your point of view.

I should have clarified I ment for common cold and flu what most people go to the doctors office for this time of year. Every single person in my family has diabetes except me it took my dads leg 4 years ago. Both my sisters and mother are cancer survivors, my father and grand father both have heart issues as well. With all the health issues my family has I should go to the doctor often but I choose not to. I check my blood sugar regularly as request of my dad and it's always normal.

My ex wife and her family run to the docs at the sign of anything the whole family is hypochondriacs I hated it. My kids were rushed off to the doctor for anything over 98.5 temp and drugged with fever reducer and cough medicine. Every time the doctor told us " it's going around every kid is sick all you can do is ride it out and give them Motrin if they spike a fever" so many arguments over me not calling off work cuz I said kids where fine and they insisted they had cancer or something because the kid coughed or said his head hurts just to have the doctor say it's a bug and two days later my kids were fine bouncing off the walls again.

Now that the whole house has had the puking and pooping non stop flu my three year old looks like he's coming down with pink eye in his left eye it's super puffy and pink oozing goop. Kid in his pre school class just got over it his mom said over break so I wouldn't be surprised if my Jack has it to.

I had it about 4 weeks ago.  After almost 2 weeks of being sick, a trip to the Dr. and a trip to urgent care, I felt better.  The dry cough I had was horrible.  The last time I had the flu was in 2007.  I felt like I was going to die.  This time I was just miserable.

Not sure what I just had but it wasn't a pretty 24 hours.  There are some foods I won't be eating for a while though!!!  But wife had them too and she was fine?  Glad it's gone....whew.  On a side note we take some Neocitrin from Canada and it works pretty good for achy stuffy stuff.

Get well all.

yup. I got it for about a week and a half...then it turned to pneumonia. It's been a rough one.

No flu shots for me.

Cold & runny nose for a month now====very unusual for me.

I become a hermit in the winter to stay away from people.

I have excellent health care which can actually work against my wife and I sometime.Once they see a cash cow like my policy, they issue every test and procedure they can think of.

Not really a complaint, just a little irritating sometime. Obviously better than none at all.

I like my doctor, but he is making me nervous by insisting on a prostate exam every visit.[smiley]

I believe my work environment makes my immune system really kick it up a notch. I got the flu several years ago, when I got the flu shot. Haven't gotten the shot since, haven't had the flu since, knock on wood.

I get those wonderful aurora migraines where I deal with temporary blindness, numbness in my hands and arms, nausea, and vomiting. I get those year round and it knocks me out for at least a couple days every time so it's kind of like a mini flu minus the temperature. I had one last week, I haven't puked that much in a long time.

Last year many old friends & wife ALL came down with the flu symptoms. After the flu shot.

I never take any drug companies   " preventative shots.  "    Just pocket money for them .

perfect example of how money has corrupted something.

All the side effects, including death, about almost every new drug by drug companies are sad.  The lawyers appear to have found a value in them.

Drug companies stay in business by selling drugs,  not safely eliminating a disease.

Way back in time there were cures for some diseases.  Now if you have a reaction from a drug they give you another drug.  Still having side effects ?  We have thousands to give you.

The sales of each new drug pays off the previous lawsuit drugs. Running a drug company for profit is no different than running any other company.  You must show a good profit each year to stay in business.

At 77  I have lived thru the GOOD years of disease controls.

The gentlemen that discovered how to make insulin for diabetics gave it away. There's currently no cure for Diabetes mellitus (Type I). 50 years ago, I'd be dead by now. What a scam!

What your saying and what cyclops is saying are 2 different things..we all know that there are a couple good apples in the prescription drug world,  but there is really no question that the vast majority are purely there for money.

No, we're both referring to "preventive shots." I'm pretty much on target with my statements and they're relevant. I hear measles are making a comeback. On the flip side, shingles is an interesting case. Back before chicken pox vaccinations, we got our immune booster being exposed to children with chicken pox. Now with so many not getting them, and our reduced exposure, shingles is a problem. Interesting, anyway.
