Holy crap it's like everyone I know seems to have it every one at work has it or had it the past month. I've been sick for two weeks now coughing up a lung and last night I woke up at 130am and have been hugging the toilet since. I can't even remember the last time I was this sick. I called into work today for the first time in my life. I had perfect attendance at school and every job I've ever had till now. I hate it but the girlfriend is making me stay home and rest despite me trying to leave for work when she ran to the store for some ginger ale I didn't get out quick enough.

I got it in nov 2013 after thanksgiving, it was the most evil flu I ever had, ever, in fact I felt bad for 3 months.... Hospitals are saying 30% of all ER visits are confirmed flu. It does seem to be everywhere.. School will be starting back soon, it will become even more rampant.

it's officially reached an epidemic status this year.  both my wife and i have already had the flu this year.  i hope people can avoid it, the remedy (tamiflu) costs a small fortune so avoid at all costs.

Apparently, the flu shots that were given out were not effective on the strain that is going around.

True - and as a side note to this, the "Flu Shot" is always a strain of whatever was the prevalent virus the season before.  Can't predict year to year what is going to be.

Additionally, this flu virus is a living thing that seems to be evolving and adapting year to year, making itself more resistant to traditional (symptom relieving) medicines.

The whole event appears to be much more debilitating than in years past, the symptoms seem to last considerably longer, as well as being more easily transmitted from host to host.

Good Times.

keep sucking down antibiotics and wiping everything down with antibacterial gel/wipes..it only makes viruses stronger and mutates them to resist..

And when you grocery shopping try to find the wipes to use on the cart's handle and other surfaces.

Many grocery stores have a container of the wipes by the shopping carts.

If not, bring your own.

And the item that collects the most germs at home is your TV remote so wipe it down from time to time or when you are going to use it.

Last years flu for the wife and I was the worst I've ever had in my life as well as for the wife.  It literally took me the better part of 4 months to get over it.  I did not get the flu shot last year.  This year I was the first in line.  Just recently got over being sick.  No where near what I had last year.  Went to the doc at the first sign and got an antibiotic shot in the bum.  Over it in a matter of a week.

Don't mess with the flu boys.  I've become somewhat of a germaphobe since I got over that last one.  I literally will leave a store if I hear someone with a bad raspy cough.

Oh man.. there's options for you if you don't have insurance.  I'd really look into that for you and your family.

The flu around here was bad.  My wife had a version of it and my daughter had the ev-d68.  They treated my daughter with antibiotics but the doctor said that she will just need to ride it out.  They each got sick 3 days after they received a flu shot.

Myself, I have been sick once with the flu since 1998.  I received a flu shot back then and 1 hour later I was in the hospital with a 104 degree fever.  I felt fine before hand.  I was told that I had a pancreatic viral flu and that it would go away in a month or two.  The doctor said it would either kill or I would be fine. They sent me home that day because there was nothing they could do for me. It took 2 weeks for the fever to break completely and another week to recover.

I know they say you can't catch the flu from the shot but there are too many I know still getting sick right after the shot or sometime down the road.

Kids are covered im not

If there is one near you, Wal Greens by me has a health clinic that costs $50 to visit.  The general antibiotics they usually give for the flu are $4 at Wal-Mart.

Think it may be gone knock on wood. The girl friend forced me to stay in bed all day yesterday missing work. She kept feeding me soup and crackers in bed taking care of me. Woke up this morning feeling like a million Bucks no stomach ache nothing I've had some toast and pasta today with out a problem and playing with my brat kids just fine.

You can take all the antibiotics you want, its not going to ward off the flu any faster. The flu is a virus. So unless you can get your hands on an anti-viral, antibiotics will not help because they ward off bacteria's. Just my .02 ;)

The replacement part arrives for my grandson's Christmas desk and I call my son to find out if he wants me to put the book case part of the desk together or does he want to do it.

He calls back and says he is sick as a dog and for me to do it.

Then, while I am out running errands he, his wife driving, and the two kids show up to pick up something my daughter-in-law is taking back to Talbots and my son is so sick he can't even drive.

When they back home he texts me and asks how I can get in touch with Dr. V., our concierge doctor. He says the office number he has passes him onto an answereing machine.

So I call Dr. V. on his cell phone to set up my son calling him for some feel good meds.

Dr. V. tells me he saw 39 patients last Saturday and another 21 on Sunday, all with the flu.

He added that he has been seeing so many patients since the beginning  of December with the flu.

Time for me to stay home and away from people unless I have to go out in the public.

That's 50 people with the flu in a small practice (400 patients) on one weekend in Richmond, Virginia.

Bummer. Hope everyone feels better.

Clayton, you have to have health insurance.

It is the law.

It's what America voted for.

Cut out lunch and dinner for the rest of the year and get that insurance.

Otherwise, you are a felon!!!!!

My experience too. Antibiotics do nothing for me that NyQuil doesn't already do. Just mask some symptoms. I'd rather the doc give me a z pack to boost my immune system.

Virus runs thru you.  You either survive or not.

Look at the massive side effects for any drug  for anything.  They take your money & tell you, you may become crippled or die for a skin fungus ??

Finishing up a nasty constant runny nose cold. Asked the dippy doctor for Codine to suppress my painfull cough. Crap I got was sugar water & no Codine.

Wipe my butt with most doctors faces.  Totally useless.  $ 15 for nothing. Going to take the bottle back to the druggist & get my money. If he says she perscribbed that I tell her to pay me back.  Tired of the white coated Witch Doctors screwing over me.

This is why I don't do the doctor thing never have not because I don't have insurance but because most medicines just suppress symptoms and mask the issue and do nothing to cure you. Nothing staying hydrated and rest can't cure. I've been stuffing my face all day now that the bug is gone still got a slight cough but I always do year round just about.

I'm diabetic. No, doctors can't cure diabetes. But without them, I'd probably be dead from the disease by now. I'm glad I don't agree with your point of view.

Scott, they're darn close to a treatment that does. Hopefully in our lifetime we can be done with insulin.
