CDMeyer Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 This year I have decided that I will be getting a Fishfinder with a GPS..... after much research I believe that this seems to be the best deal out there. It has GPS (avialiable for upgrades if you wish) Traditional scan Down scan imaging So I was wondering if anyone has used this and if so what do they think about it? Thanks for the help God Bless Quote
PNWdude Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I'm sorry I don't have any personal experience to share with you about the Elite-4 HDI, but you might want to consider going with the Elite-4 CHIRP that is coming out soon for the same price. If you don't need the unit right away (2-3 weeks) you will still get all the great features you want plus Chirp. I'm in the market for a new fish finder myself and was about to pull the trigger on the Elite-4x HDI until I saw the Chirp versions were available to order at Cabelas.com. I'm glad I waited a week before buying the older version Quote
blackmax135 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I purchased the the 4x HDI. It is the same model just without gps. The picture is very clear and it works. But when I first got this unit on the regular scan it just looked as if there was so much trash in the water you couldn't get a picture of structure to know. The down scan was the same thing, if there was a fish on down scan you couldn't even try to see it. Not because of screen size or clarity of screen. If you went down on the sensitivity it would clear up but then it wouldn't pick up on structure or fish. Down scan doesn't even have sensitivity setting. I called lowrance and they sent me a new transducer right away and I changed it and it got a little better but it still isn't what I expected. Now this is just my experience, I still have the unit and use it everytime on the water and it does the job. If you get the unit and it does the same and you fix it let me know how please!! It could just be my unit. This year I have decided that I will be getting a Fishfinder with a GPS..... after much research I believe that this seems to be the best deal out there.
