Don't see much of anything written about this reel.  Read thru TT's review.  May not be the finesse reel a Pixy is, but the guy thought it would make a good general purpose reel.  They rated it GREAT.   Would like to know from others using the reel what your opinions are of the reel.  Thanks.

My friend has one and let me use it one day. Pretty nice reel. Light and smooth, nice drag and casts very nice with minimal effort...i really liked the eva grips. Overall it felt a lot like my STX so im not sure if it really worth the price of admission. Overall i liked it a lot..but not as much as i liked the Legend Extreme he had it paired with lol

IMO the Core is the best bang for the buck among the "high end" reels.

I have a friend who (knowingly) left one in my boat on one of his rods.  It is the best revo I have used (as it should be according to the price).  The drag was strong and smooth, it casted light baits very well, I was throwing ripbaits into and around wind and the reel performed great.  I don't know if I could personally pay retail price for it as I'm just a fan of less expensive reels but for a good deal I would say go for it!  Also, VERY light reel in hand!

 

I should add, I'm the WRONG person to ask about other reels in this price range, I'm basically entirely ignorant in that regard!

If you're looking for a true BFS casting reel, get an Aldebaran BFS for the same price range.

I had one a while back, but sold it a few months after I bought it. I thought it felt like a glorified Premier, or STX. Same basic reel, just had the lightweight frame. It's far from a finesse reel, and it's not really meant to be one.

I have an MGX and I have been happy with it.   I had the Core 100 also, I got rid of it, mostly because all of my other reels are ABU's but also because I feel like the MGX is a better reel overall.  It has a better handle,carbon fiber and supports 4 bearings, slightly longer than the Core at 80mm. weights less 5.4 vs 6.1oz, available in LH(JDM) RH and a couple of gear ratio,  I also prefer the braking system for its adjustability, really helps with the lighter baits.  The revo also has all the bells and whistles that you would expect with an upper end reel, clicking spool tension and drag star.   While the MGX is not a true finesse caster, it will cast light baits well, it has no problem with anything in the 1/4oz weights. On the right rod it is capable of casting baits in the 1/8oz range a short distance, but does not pitch them well at all. I am using stock bearings in mine and an upgrade to Air bearings might make a difference.  I find it very easy to cast and is as smooth on the retrieve as any other reel I own.  

 

My only problem with the reel is the profile, I have large hands and it almost feels too small to me.   Probably because I am use to the size of the Gen2 Revo reels, but these days I find myself using my Gen 2 Revo Elite IB more often.

 

I don't know that I would pay retail for this reel, but you can easily fiind them new for 250, and I think it is a good deal at that price.

Appreciate the comments.  Doesn't seem like a very popular reel.  I had no problem throwing unweighted 10" worms on my STX-L for 3 years running.  Then this past June it gave me fits.  Maybe because Mike cleaned it, and I needed to get it dialed in again?

You might have to dial it in again if he flushed the bearings, because they're probably a little faster now. Any decent reel should be able to sling 10" worms quite a ways though, they are fairly aerodynamic in flight and have a good bit of weight to them.
