Super User Montanaro Posted December 29, 2014 Super User Posted December 29, 2014 Got a tatula spinning rod for xmas and noticed above the reel seat, two holes beside each other. Do they serve any purpose? Is it just for weight reduction? Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted December 29, 2014 Super User Posted December 29, 2014 I'd be guessing it's just for weight reduction and aesthetic value. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Holes in the reel seat not the rod right? Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted December 29, 2014 Author Super User Posted December 29, 2014 Let me rephrase...above the rod in the reel seat. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Haven't seen the rod but the only functional reason I can guess at would be some sort of hook keeper. Graphite seats are pretty light as they come and positioned in the least critical area as far as weight is concerned. 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted December 30, 2014 Author Super User Posted December 30, 2014 Daiwa website for tatulas has a picture where it's slightly noticeable. Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted December 30, 2014 Super User Posted December 30, 2014 That's the design of the reel seat, it's exclusive to Daiwa. All of the Tatula and new Zillion seats are like that. I'm sure it's for weight reduction as the seat is wider than standard reel seats and it gets covered by the hood. Quote
