OntarioFishingGuy Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 There is an ad on my screen right now that says ' Top 10 mistakes that cold callers make '. Sometimes the web scares me... Quote
Rhino68W Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 That has always been one of my favorite gags of all times. He did a fantastic job. :-) Those of you who haven't heard the "Tom Mabe" phone call should check it out. Tight lines, Bob x2, this was the highlight of many football trips in high school. Quote
Doc-Drew Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 I have a few: Deceased When they ask for me, I start to stammer and say "he was killed last night in an automobile accident". Depending on their response, I may then get irate, asking if they think it is cool calling for a dead man. I had a friend do a very similar thing back in high school. A telemarketer called asking for his mother. He pretended to start sobbing saying that she passed from cancer a two weeks ago (I was there to witness the whole ordeal and it was pretty convincing). The telemarketer immediately apologized for calling and disturbing the family. A week later the house received a bouquet of flowers with a sympathy card HANDWRITTEN! His mother (who was not deceased) was so confused when the flowers came. Quote

Better just to say no thank you in the first place and end the call. Most telemarketers aren't rich or they wouldn't be one, I'd feel guilty if someone spent money based on a lie. Quote
