So I have used these baits for for a good bit this year and had great success.  Went out yesterday for a few hours since it was so nice out and couldn't buy a bit on a jig, then I tied on a Hydra - still nothing.  I had about 4 pit bosses left in a pack and figured I use them up (if I could get a bite that is).  Anyway, I ended up doing pretty well 3 dinks and a nice 3.5+lber.

Then I went home and was looking on TW to reorder and went to the review section and noticed someone pointed out that most people confuse the top and bottom (myself included apparently).  So how do you rig them, as in what is the top of the bait and what is the bottom.  I always rigged them with the side that has the open rings as the top and the side that has the connecting larger rings and then the smaller set as the bottom.  Looking at the other pictures of baits on TW - they always show the top pictures as the top and the bottom as the bottom, which makes sense.  So my question is how do you rig it and what is the top and what is the bottom?

I guess it must not matter to much since I have caught plenty of fish with it 'up side down'.

It doesn't matter..........I rig them with the ribbed side down and my hook point comes out on the smooth side in the little "pocket", my tournament partner rigs his the other way around and we both catch fish.

I really don't think it matters.  But when I buy them in a two-color version, I always rig them so the lighter color is on the bottom, naturally. They are my favorite jig trailers!

Tight lines,

I just looked at some and there are small eyes in the on the side without the trough up the middle that I have never noticed before.  I have been rigging with the trough facing up but like others I don't think it matters.

I'm not sure I've ever even looked what side is up when I'm rigging them.

Yeah, I guess at the end of the day as long as you're catching fish it doesn't matter!

I usually fish them ribbed side down - the hook point should bury itself into that little ribbed cove on the top if you do it that way. But like others have said, you can rig any which way and boat fish, even sideways!

you can rig any which way and boat fish, EVEN SIDEWAYS!

Shhhh!!! You weren't supposed to tell people that!!!

doesnt matter fish eat them regardless which side is up. Great jig trailer for New York finger lakes and Lake Erie bays for largemouth

When I first looked at the Havoc Pit Boss package I tried to find directions on how to properly rig the bait.

Same is true for the Rage Tail Rage Shad.

Finally figured it out.

And yes, I agree with all who said that the bass don't care. In fact, by misrigging the bait you may be giving the bass a different look that they have never seen before.
