40 inches is craaaaaaaaaaaaszy fast. I wonder what kind of torque you can get with that type of speed. Are we all gonna be cranking with 7.3 "slow" reels in the future lol.

A few years ago I thought and believed a 6.3:1 was fast enough for any bass fishing presentation.

Now I fish with 8:1 reels for jig fishing and love them. Keep an open mind!

I saw this earlier. I'm liking the green a lot. The purple works well too. Hopefully all those parts will be available from Daiwa in the not so distant future. As for the 9:1 ratio. The 8:1:1 Tatula = 33.9" ipt and 7:1:1 Lews TP = 31" ipt. It's not a huge difference in ipt between the two ratios. Though 40" seems like I bit much but I see where it could help when flipping,pitching, and punching. Also burning a trap or spinnerbait.

You catch you fish a high % of the time within 20' of where you lure first landed, on the surface or bottom or in between. The reels ratio/IPT (inch per turn) is only a factor at that distance, whatever that is.

The smaller the spool diameter the more the IPT is affected at distance, it' isn't linear.

The US version is purple. There's going to be a limited amount for sale here pretty soon. You can pre-order one right now from the Tackle Trap. Should be in next week from what I understand. That purple one would look sweet on an Endurance.

Anything over 30 is probably overkill, but it's still fun to buy fast new reels. I want the Zillion XXH for schooling stripers/wipers. I can fling a lure out there and if I don't hook up I can get it back out in the water before the fish disappear.

Ditto... Granted it could be a great reel for jigging spoons or something like that. It is a sexy frame though, as are all of the new Daiwas IMO
