crankbank Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Very cool.... When are we gonna hit double digit ratios? Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 Holy cow! Why do we need double digits? Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 Make it stop! I can't handle the sheer awesomeness of a 9.1:1 reel!!! Quote
crankbank Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 It just seems like that is the way they're heading... higher and higher... Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 How many ipt is it? Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 It just seems like that is the way they're heading... higher and higher... This is true. I think 9.1 ought to be tue top. I wont buy anything faster than 8 How many ipt is it? 40" 1 Quote
DirtyDeuceGoose Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 That green might compete with the recent purple Daiwa has released for accent colors. Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 I like my 8.1 and would love to try the 9.1 Zillion. Quote
Grantman83 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 40 inches is craaaaaaaaaaaaszy fast. I wonder what kind of torque you can get with that type of speed. Are we all gonna be cranking with 7.3 "slow" reels in the future lol. Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 A few years ago I thought and believed a 6.3:1 was fast enough for any bass fishing presentation. Now I fish with 8:1 reels for jig fishing and love them. Keep an open mind! Tom 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 I saw this earlier. I'm liking the green a lot. The purple works well too. Hopefully all those parts will be available from Daiwa in the not so distant future. As for the 9:1 ratio. The 8:1:1 Tatula = 33.9" ipt and 7:1:1 Lews TP = 31" ipt. It's not a huge difference in ipt between the two ratios. Though 40" seems like I bit much but I see where it could help when flipping, pitching, and punching. Also burning a trap or spinnerbait. Super User Jeff H Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 A few years ago I thought and believed a 6.3:1 was fast enough for any bass fishing presentation. Now I fish with 8:1 reels for jig fishing and love them. Keep an open mind! Tom I still think it is. I can still catch fish every time I go out, believe it or not.... and I don't have any 8:1 reels. 1 Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 So is it purple or green lol Haha right. I'm wondering if the Jdm version is green and the Usdm is purple. Only assuming since one video is in Japanese and the other in English. I guess we will see at ICast. Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 You catch you fish a high % of the time within 20' of where you lure first landed, on the surface or bottom or in between. The reels ratio/IPT (inch per turn) is only a factor at that distance, whatever that is. The smaller the spool diameter the more the IPT is affected at distance, it' isn't linear. Tom 1 Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 Haha right. I'm wondering if the Jdm version is green and the Usdm is purple. Only assuming since one video is in Japanese and the other in English. I guess we will see at ICast. The US version is purple. There's going to be a limited amount for sale here pretty soon. You can pre-order one right now from the Tackle Trap. Should be in next week from what I understand. That purple one would look sweet on an Endurance. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 A 40 ipt is overkill for bass, IMHO. Nice looking reel though. 1 Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 A 40 ipt is overkill for bass, IMHO. Nice looking reel though.Anything over 30 is probably overkill, but it's still fun to buy fast new reels. I want the Zillion XXH for schooling stripers/wipers. I can fling a lure out there and if I don't hook up I can get it back out in the water before the fish disappear. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 A 40 ipt is overkill for bass, IMHO. Nice looking reel though. Ditto... Granted it could be a great reel for jigging spoons or something like that. It is a sexy frame though, as are all of the new Daiwas IMO Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 Wow ~ I guess it was only a matter of time before we hit the 40 inches per turn mark on a fresh water reel. Won't be long - you only need one turn per cast . . . . A-Jay Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 If there was a saltwater version, it would be killer for redfish. Quote
IAY Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 If there was a saltwater version, it would be killer for redfish. Zillions are saltwater safe, so it is saltwater version. Quote
