Blues19 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Saw these on TW and was thinking it looked cool, anyone use these? How do you rig these suckers? Looked through youtube and saw it rigged almost wacky style, with a Damiki Neko Skinker. But it looks like it could be rigged T-Rigged too. How do yall use these? Any pictures of rigging techniques would be awesome. Thanks Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I have had good luck with these and the GYCB version. I always rig them backwards (skirt first) with a 5/0 or 6/0 weedless. With them rigged this way, they fall awY from you. It's easy to get them under things like this. 2 Quote

Same here you can just notice how in pic. There is a slot that the point can ride in when rigged correctly for little more weedless. Mend-it or solder iron comes in handy to repair them to get more use. Also in pic you can see how well JJ's Magic Chartreuse works on the skirt. Too (see 2nd pic) Ive bough Ika skirts now to replace worn out skirts to put on the Hydra bodies. I had been swapping parts from each. They have a slower fall rate than Ikas and a bit more fluid skirt movement. Ill skip them under branches but mostly throw out far if they hit bottom hop twitch drag them back. Ive begun to use them on weed mats and top of thick slop as well. I work it like a frog but when I get to little holes it will fall through and get blasted this way at times just different approach. I also get better hook-ups than with frogs. 1 Quote
Blues19 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 DO you throw it weightless or with a weight? Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 Weightless. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 You can sling one a mile without a weight! Quote
Blues19 Posted December 27, 2014 Author Posted December 27, 2014 You can sling one a mile without a weight! Thats awesome. I figured after seeing it sink so slowly it wouldnt cast all that well Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted December 27, 2014 Super User Posted December 27, 2014 The hydra and fat ika are good alternatives to other traditional weightless plastics. They cast as far or further and excel at fishing rocks, brush, docks or other vertical structure. Not my favorite for weeds as they tend to collect more junk than say a fluke. Quote
