Super User Senko lover Posted December 24, 2014 Super User Posted December 24, 2014 I looked pretty interestedly at the Sebile Action First Pivot Frog, which features a single hook that swings side to side. What do you think of it? Is it a gamechanger? I don't do a lot of frogging, but innovative lures never fail to catch my eye. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 24, 2014 Global Moderator Posted December 24, 2014 Looks like they'll be even harder to hook fish with than a regular frog, I won't be buying any until someone proves otherwise. Quote
georgeyew Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I watched the video last night. I don't use frogs normally, but if I did the Sebile one would be in my tacklebox. I like the free swinging hook concept...assuming that it doesn't get hung up. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted December 24, 2014 Super User Posted December 24, 2014 Doesn't seem like a big deal to me. Most innovations that are real game changers are done by the individual angler when it comes to frogs, including bending hooks, adding trailer hooks (is this effective? do they make the less weedless?), clipping legs shorter, or to different lengths, that kinda stuff. Patrick Sebile is a great lure maker though, he has some really innovative lures like the soft and hard magic swimmers. Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted December 24, 2014 Super User Posted December 24, 2014 I think the concept is good in terms of setting the hook, as the body interfering with the hooks is probably the biggest barrier to good frog hooksets but it will no doubt get caught on stuff when it rolls over pads so probably more for light cover or open water channels. Super User A-Jay Posted December 24, 2014 Super User Posted December 24, 2014 Have not fish one. I have read about it & watched the videos. Mr Sebile reports that he has address two on my own personal pet peeves regarding the majority of hollow body frogs currently on the market. Water intrusion & hook up ratio. This new Pivot frog is supposedly designed to allow Much Less water into the belly of the bait; considerably reducing the way too frequent "frog Squeeze" I'm doing now. And more importantly - hook up ratio is supposed to be improved with the use of the single pivoting / hinged over-size EWG hook. Compared to what out there now - that hook looks big (like a Gaff). We'll see if it's a benefit or something else. I'm going to try one. A-Jay Quote
