BIG M Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I have finally finished a batch of baits for myself. Sat is going to be fun. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted October 5, 2007 Super User Posted October 5, 2007 Alright send me the Tenn shad one with the red eyes Good work there! I always had a question about making cranks. How do you adjust the weight on them? I just make small wooden cranks and use a 1/8oz drop shot weight. Besides suspend dots/strips or wrapping soldier around the hooks how do you do it? Allen Quote
BIG M Posted October 5, 2007 Author Posted October 5, 2007 Once the baits a put together your opitions are limited. Lead tape or soldier on the hooks. I usually make three baits from a new pattern with 3 different weights and pick the best of the three. All of those small cranks have an 1/8oz of weight in them. That bait was suppose to look like a crappie :'( Quote
Super User Munkin Posted October 5, 2007 Super User Posted October 5, 2007 Whatever you want to call it I know it would work around here! Personally I like a crankbait to look like a crayfish of a baitfish for clear to stained water. For muddy water whatever is bright enough for them to see seems to work. Where do you get you bills from? Allen Quote
BIG M Posted October 5, 2007 Author Posted October 5, 2007 Some of the bills I made myself and the others came from Jann's. Cutting out and finishing the bills is very time consuming. I wish I could find bills in all the sizes and shapes I use, would save me at least 30 min per bait. Quote
Guest whittler Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Come on Marty, your not going to give those bass a chance, save a few for seed dude. Great work. John Quote

bassman1282 Posted October 9, 2007 Posted October 9, 2007 M, do you hand paint those black stripey things on the side or do you use a stencil and airbrush it? Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted October 15, 2007 Super User Posted October 15, 2007 Wow Marty. ME like the Jerkbaits. Quote
BIG M Posted October 15, 2007 Author Posted October 15, 2007 Thanks for all the nice words. Bassman, I did the stripes with a fine point sharpie. I'm not good enough with the airbrush to do those free hand. I'm going to try and perfect some stencil patterns this winter. Quote
