Who else goes home and warms up a pot of water and heats up all their new flukes and paddle tails to get them perfectly straight, it takes up a good bit of time and I'm just wondering if its even worth it. Do you guys care if they are a little bent or off center?

I'm talking about bait company's like zoom, or any other company that just puts them all in a bag. If they are in a nice package like rage tail baits for example it's never a problem...

Simple answer: yes, especially on the flukes. Can really mess up action.

Little bent I can live with; though I usually put those on a jighead as opposed to weightless. Bent all to heck I will boil or put in the bag in a way that they straighten out a little bit.

Yup, on zoom super flukes & on 5" Kalin grubs.. It also soften's them too, afterwards I spray a slight amount of Bang garlic sent and it helps them from becoming re- kinked.. It's worked for me.

no. they catch fish just fine staight out of the package. now if u take a bag and put them under twenty pounds of tackle boxes and dent up the bodys and crinkle up the tails then ya you may have a problem... but if your worried about a bait being slightly off center instead of figuring out the fish on that particular day yourealready off to bad start. fish are not that smart dont give them too much credit,  u make the right cast and present the bait the right way the fish is going to eat it. the fish dont study baits, so why should a fisherman... dont over complicate the game

flukes have to be really bad to boil straight.  Paddle tales, yes for sure.  I want them to kick and run right.  If the tail is rolled over then it won't swim right. Used to do this years ago with the Mister Twister Sassy Shads.  Had to always straighten them out since the tall section would almost always be kinked.

I check them in the store to prevent getting bent ones. If one is bent out of the package it usually gets thrown away.

Don't do a thing with them, but I make sure the hook is perfectly centered and I like to put a little bit of a hump on the back.  Quite often after the first strike they don't seem to run the same, I'll put a fresh one on.

Havoc baits sometimes come bent. I never boil. I have a large enough amount on hand that I'll use the straight ones, while the bent ones sit in a plano box, in the sun. They straighten up nice, and get softer, an I didn't really have to do anything.

I don't want to think about it when I'm fishing. I'm going to put on another bait.

Never boiled them before. If it's a little bend I could care less. If it's bad enough that it messes with the action of the bait, I'd probably try it.

Not only with flukes or paddle tails! I boil all kinds of baits! I really got into the new Yum Christie Craw's this year, but I had to boil about every pack I got. I want my baits to run the same every time. I think if my plastic is straight, that's one less thing I can blame the lack of fish on! Lol.
