masterbass Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Do you guys use this stuff? Does it make the cork last longer and stay clean? Does it change the color or texture? Is it sticky or tacky? Thanks. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted December 20, 2014 Super User Posted December 20, 2014 Keeps it looking nicer, longer. It also helps keep the filler locked in, to prevent pitting. It will make the cork just slightly darker, but not much. Doesn't change the feel much in my hands. 1 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted December 20, 2014 Super User Posted December 20, 2014 First thing I do to a new rod. I think it keeps the cork from drying out, doesn't get as dirty as fast. Yes, it does give the cork a slightly golden tint. I don't notice it feeling sticky or tacky, but it seems to have a better grip, wet, or dry. You can do a bunch of rods with one bottle. I wouldn't be without it. Hope this helps. Hootie 3 Quote
5fishlimit Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 If for no other reason than to have a project to do during the winter months it's completely worth it. As the others have stated it really does help keep the cork cleaner, and the jar lasts for many applications. I'm guessing several hundred applications at the rate I'm going through it. If cleaning old cork don't forget to use the Arm and Hammer magic eraser! Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted December 20, 2014 Super User Posted December 20, 2014 I am a U-40 Fan. Been using it on every cork handled rod I buy, new & used. Cork Seal is designed to seal the surface of cork rod handles. It prevents the penetration of soils and other foreign matter transferred to the grip area from the fisherman's hands. It enhances that "cork feel." It toughens the cork to aid in the prevention of sloughing and chipping of the cork surface. Cork Seal soaks into the cork and seals in depth. Once it is dry, dirt, grime, and all residue are easily washed off with soap and water. Though I don't know if it's really necessary, I reapply it at the start of every season. Many rods can be done quickly and it dries overnight. A-Jay Quote
Super User Darren. Posted December 20, 2014 Super User Posted December 20, 2014 What everybody said. It's good stuff, protects cork, keeps it looking good, etc... Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 20, 2014 Super User Posted December 20, 2014 Application tip. Put it with a small sponge paint applicator very sparingly. Otherwise it will drip. If it does drip wipe it with the sponge to even it out. 1 Quote

Super User kickerfish1 Posted December 21, 2014 Super User Posted December 21, 2014 Not a problem. Could possibly snag yourself a few more wants and needs (maybe something on sale from the 25 days of savings for Christmas) and get the order up to $50 to get free shipping. The Tackle Trap also sells the product as well. Quote
