For the past few years I've been fishing the BFL, TBF, and Nations circuit's as a co angler and been thinking more and more about moving up to the Rayovac Series next year as a co-angler as well.

Now that I'm recently retired and have the time and Thankfully the means to see how far I can go, I'm still a little hesitant.

After all I'm 64 yrs old!

We bought a motor coach so the travel isn't a concern, and there's just something about traveling around the country at our leisure, which we were gonna do anyway, and fishing at a higher level of competition that really appeals to me.

Hopefully there will still be time to sit somewhere with a cigar and watch a sunset over a mountain range somewhere, but I'm not ready for that yet.

In the back of my head I keep thinking if not now, when?

But at 64!

Anyway thats the thought process.

My question, do any of you now, or have you, fished the Rayovac?

I say if you have the means and you think you can compete why not? I haven't fished any of the Rayovac tournaments so I can't help you there, but I'd say give it a shot. you'll know pretty quick if you can cut it or not. If you can't then at least you know instead of always wondering.

Yeah I'm really leaning toward doin it.

You're right I'll know soon enough.

Just was wondering if anyone else competed in it.

Thanks

Mike, first "no" I have not fished the Rayovac series.

Second, "yes" go for it!

Don't let age stand in your way.

Age is a mind set.

The heck with age. Just do it.

I'm gonna say basically the same things the others have said. I have not a lot of experience tournament fishing, as I just don't have the time and means to do it, but I certainly will try to get into when I do, hopefully joining a fulltime BASS or FLW club when I get into college. But don't let your age hinder you! If you are in good health, do it! Your age will only stop you if you let it get into your head.

Signed up for all the Western Divisional's as co-angler.  Talked to one other member on here that fished it last year in the western division and if you have the  funds and time to do it, go for it.  Never know until you try.  I would read over the rules several times to make sure you haven't missed anything and if you are going to get in, put in the deposit  for all 3 as they will give you priority entry over an angler just fishing one of the events.

Thanks guys.

I feel I can compete with those guys, but if I'm wrong I'll know soon enough.

Mike, based on what you've said you should definitely move up.  I had a blast last year and would definitely do it again.  Unfortunately I'll be moving in the next 6 months and would be forced to travel 2000 miles round trip per event.
