So I just seen it. Minnesota DNR is requiring boaters to take a test and pay a fee on invasive aquatic species. Once passed, you get a sticker for your trailer.

The test and sticker are required by June 1st.

This coming year is only a warning, but in 2016 find will be given.

Once I get a DNR link I will post, but wow, they are taking this serious.

Thanks for posting that.  I was unaware of this new requirement.  Must be renewed every 3 years too!

I feel your pain.  We have far more restrictive requirements for some reservoirs near here- One in particular you need to have the boat steam cleaned and sealed (just a seal tag, not wrapped) before you're allowed on the water and that seal is ONLY removed by DNR operating there- and it is replaced when you leave by the same.  Only unbroken DNR sealed boats are allowed on the water at any time so you'd better be careful around that thing too or it's a re-steam for you!

It's a pain for sure, but the silver lining is that it keeps the fishing some of the best in the state IMO since you literally have to have a boat JUST for that place.  It lends well to my style too as I've pulled some absolute HOGS out of the heavy cover and the multitude of trib weed beds, etc. there and most of the guys are out in the middle of the lake glued to their screens.

It will suck, but it will also weed out those who are not committed.  I don't like being nickle-and-dimed but I also want to preserve the waterways and I'll gladly jump through some hoops to keep it awesome.

not crazy, but shocked it went to this. Zebra mussels, and milfoil are horrible and only getting worse. But I guess the fee can go to more control and restocking. I hope.

Are they gonna steam clean ducks, geese and other waterfowl and aquatic birds?

Will the birds have to take tests before they can fly to another lake?

I think the major offender is not wildlife. It is irresponsible boaters and the uneducated on how these species spread.
