Holiday Burglaries On A Rise!!!

My sister in law, her fiancee and their 4 y/o son came home to a burglarized house the other day in Burleson, TX . Fortunately they did not walk in on it happening, and no one was home. They got away with all of their presents, jewelry, fishing gear, gift cards, 55'' TV, and some more electronics. This happened at 4:30 pm in a very densely populated, and very nice community. People reported seeing stuff once it was all said and done and the cops were there investigating (4 hours after it happened), but nobody bothered to get the license plate number of the vehicle or even walk by be nosy. The cops informed them that this was the 2nd robbery in 4 days in this neighborhood, both happened in broad daylight.

 

So try to remember;

• Keep your eyes out for suspicious activity and new people at your neighbors homes when nobody else is there.
• Talk to your neighbors and develop a basic plan of action in case you see unfamiliar faces there.
• And always take proper precaution to safeguard yourself, family, and property.
• Don't proudly display your presents by a window if possible.
• Don't try to be a hero and get yourself hurt.
• Communicate with your neighbors if you are traveling for the holidays.

 

It could mean the difference in a family having a Christmas, or not have a Christmas.

Down by my workplace they put in a bunch of new shrubs to make the neighbourhood greener and more inviting (not the nicest area in town). That evening when I walked by to go home i noticed one of of the plants had been taken, leaving a random gap in the line of shrubs haha. If it can be taken, someone somewhere will figure out a way to take it...

Have one corporate plumbing firm coming out Monday to give me an estimate and I also called a fishing buddy who is a handyman to come by Monday and see what happened,.

 

Chesterfield County, Virginia water utility department told me that this happens all the time, especially if the building or house is no occupied at night.

Burglaries always increase this time of year right along with people snatching packages off people's front steps. It's unfortunate but it's the same way every year. There's lots of simple and inexpensive ways to help protect your home from being broken into. If you've never watched a video on how easy it is to kick open a door with the regular lock plate that most come installed with, it's pretty scary.

That's probably a couple of thousand dollars of damage and the perps trade a little copper for a pipe load of crack.

A code inspector for Jefferson county ( louisville ) was arrested for doing that very same thing.. Copper pipes & wire... Sting operation got him.. He was loading the "goods" in the County owned work truck.

It's been bad out in rural Indiana, since about 2005, progressing to towns and city's.

It's a shame that these things still happen. The deterioration of morals is growing.

I own a home theater company & last December, a commercial client of mine who had two 55" TV's in their showroom had a break-in.  One of the TV's was literally ripped off the mount, brute force as opposed to a professional thief.  I replaced it and the company added a siren to their alarm system.  About 10 days later, they were broken in to again, this time the other TV was stolen.  Again it was ripped off the mount, not removed.  The police said most likely it was someone swiping them to trade for drugs & that they would increase patrols in the area.

 

2 weeks later, my customer gets a call from the police at 4 in the morning, they caught someone who had broken into his building and again stolen a TV.  They didn't catch the guy in the store, rather they found him about a 1/2 mile away, riding away from the scene on a bicycle while holding on to the 55" TV.  When he saw the cops, he ditched the TV into the bushes (breaking the screen) and tried to get away, but the cops nabbed him.  He was a meth head and although he never confessed to the other 2 break-ins, the police believe he was responsible for all 3.
