Shimano Chronarch E Or Shimano Curado I

I'm torn between these two reels which one casts farther and performs better ?!

I have the curdado 201e and a curado I

The E is a great performer, set and forget vbs, solid, fairly smooth and d**n reliable

The I is also a fantastic performer, super solid, smoother imo than the E, and the brakes are set and forget.And the xship is a very nice feature

Casting i had both set up with 20# tatsu in *** Mh 7'1s. I would give the edge to the I in thr casting department. I did switch the I to 14# flouro and i can bomb some baits!

My only complaint about the I is the thumb bar feels too high to me...maybe im crazy lol

Now i have a new chronarh 51e collecting dust until we get some water...bottom line is get either one because you wont be dissapointed with either reel.

These reels are similar enough that it comes down to features and preference. Shimano has a neat "Compare" feature on the website that lets you see multiple reels side by side. Neither will blow the other out of the water.

I currently have a Curado E7 and Chronarch E5 and like everyone above said you can't really go wrong with any of them. But I'm itching to get a Curado I and get some time on the water with it because I think it'll be a better fit for me and my small man sized hands. From my multiple trips to Cabelas fondling Curado I's and Chronarch E's back to back the I's just fit better in my hand. So for me size/palmability plays a huge part in my decision and hope to eventually have all I's vs E's. Or thats what I hope will happen as sometimes the E's just feel a touch large(again I have small man sized hands). And yes eventually I hope to have a few 51e's in my arsenal as well.

I own both and I must say they're both very nice reels. You won't go wrong with either. I like the new brakes on the I, as well as the xship. But I also like that the Chronarch comes in a 5:1 left handed model. 

 

My best suggestion? Get both.

Just get the latest offering otherwise you'll always wonder how better the newer technologies are. SVS and Xship is nice but to me the "I" is just smoother and cast better than the E.

I have both. I would buy the Curado i, and use the extra money for a spool of line. But either way, you can't go wrong.

The SVS system allows for lighter braking than what the one brake VBS E can achieve. If you as the operator can take advantage of the less braking the CUI will cast farther.

I own a chronarch ci4+ and a curado i.  They share the same braking system, but the curado i's is a little less intrusive with its adjustment dial for the braking system is moved to the edge of the sideplate.  I believe the chronarch 200e has the older braking system which was a little less refined than the SVS.  I can find a new curado i for less than 150 shipped which puts it ahead of the 200e and ci4+.  My only gripe with the curado i was the redesigned thumb bar.  I have a few caenans, a core, a chronarch, and they all have the same style thumb bar.  As coldsvt said, there's something odd about the curado's thumb bar. The curado i has a wider thumb bar that just "feels different".  Whether or not it makes a difference, I don't know, but I definitely noticed it.  The weights are similar between the curado i and 200e.

So for about twenty to fifty bucks cheaper you get a reel that has a better braking system, similar weight, and a more ergonomic design. Minus weird thumb bar.
