primetime Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 I watched a video of this flat sided diving popper (The shape and colors are just awesome) but the action is taking the idea of pushing water to a new level....It is a floater that walks, pops and spits, but when you jerk it down as if wanting to create a loud pop, it dives subsurface and shoots forward making all kinds of sound with bubbles & action which is extremely impressive for a lure that size. It is the power version of the much larger Daiwa DC minnow or Yo-zuri Mag Darters but tiny which is a great engineering since it also weighs just under an ounce for long casts..... I would have estimated a price of $25 if I saw the Molix video first, but TW has them for $9.99 and they are not available anywhere else so I am curious if anyone has thrown this lure....I am getting at least 2 as I like to collect cool looking lures and I do not have any Italian Topwaters so I NEED them, plus they would look great in my topwater box, but they will work for sure since you can simply walk it slowly if you want, or pop it, but I would think it sounds like another fish blowing up on bait and will draw attention, and when they look, the lure will be slowly rising looking like it is wounded & an easy meal nice and little that they will think is much larger so I like the concept.... Dypsis Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Just checked it out myself - looks like a sweet bait. I'd also be interested in hearing from any first hand experience. Quote
Suspendingjerk Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Checked it out. Looks very interesting.. Surely someone here has some experience with one. Quote
primetime Posted December 17, 2014 Author Posted December 17, 2014 I am getting ready to place an order with TW and I always like to add a new topwater lure and I am ok paying more money for a topwater lure since I never really lose them unless I make an ill advised cast, plus here in Florida you can use a topwater year round since we are always in shallow water for the most part.... I am going to test out a chug bug and see if I can get it to do that action, I think it should be able to do that dive with that stutter and darting action and then rise awkward, I really think that could fire up a fish into striking. I have a ton of bugs so I am going to load one with some water or lead and make it heavier and see what happens. I love the price point for a lure with such quality crafting, I feel Molix deserves my money for selling that at a price point that is not insanse....Who would think that baits From Italy would be super expensive, but I have been told their cranks are top quality as well, they make some nice small square bills with fantastic detail as well. When the bait monkey talks to me he rarely talks soft baits, terminal tackle or accessories which I should be thinking about instead, lures are just fun to have....I will report back when I order the chartruese and blue models... Super User fishballer06 Posted December 17, 2014 Super User Posted December 17, 2014 I can't comment on these poppers, but I do have two different Molix crankbaits and I must say I've been very impressed with them. Very good designs, high quality, and the prices aren't out of this world like some other companies. 1 Quote
skeeter1980 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Are you talking about the Molix 65? Quote
skeeter1980 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 OOPS,i SAW THE TITLE OF THIS THREAD.LOL Quote
primetime Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 I guess it is a 65, it is a new topwater popper shaped like a chug bug, only it is just a great looking lure, now that I think about it alot of lures can do the same thing but none have that detail for $9.99, I think it will be good, new look for fish and I love using loud splashes and creating noise with baits to get attention...Bombing a 7" senko on a jighead and then ripping it back is one of my favorite techniques to use when I want a good fish, or know fish are in the area but need to get one fired up, some days it does nothing, some days it will get smashed better than any walking lure you could use, after all a senko is a jerkbait. The Sluggo works good as well, best is the AT worm for walking, Sebile is a great lure desinger, anyone not throwing sebile lures is missing out, some I don't like but he has about 6-7 baits like no others, and most guys think saltwater...You can find them on ebay for silly cheap, 5 flatt shads for $20, Slim sticks for $7 free shipping, Magic swimmers are still high in the $15 range, but stick shads here in tampa are going for $3.99 at a local shop....That is a great lure, glitter effect is legit in my mind. Super User fishballer06 Posted December 18, 2014 Super User Posted December 18, 2014 I ended up throwing one of these into my order yesterday. Got a gift card for my buddy who is getting married next month. The money I saved with the 10% off gift cards basically got me this lure for free. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 24, 2014 Super User Posted December 24, 2014 Got this in today. It's much smaller and lighter than I anticipated. I'll likely be throwing this on spinning gear. For $10, I was expecting a much better set of hooks. I'll be swapping those out. Overall though, it's a pretty cool little bait. Quote

Super User Montanaro Posted December 24, 2014 Super User Posted December 24, 2014 Just use flouro with your usual poppers...it'll dive under water. Quote
Brnnoser6983 Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I was watching a YouTube video and someone had the Molix. He said yes it looks odd, but it works well. I wouldn't mind giving it a try. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 25, 2014 Super User Posted December 25, 2014 When you get a chance can you post a picture next to something for size reference? I'm currently out of town for the holiday. I'll try to remember to do this once I get back Sunday. Happy holidays everyone! Quote
