Spiral wrapped rods have been around a long time. The purpose is to stop torsional twist of the rod - (tip twisting under load) It is used in saltwater gear more than fresh.

Yes, I have them - I don't see a marked difference fishing for bass.

Branuss04,

Yup its been around for a long time. Out there in Calif. you might find them easier by asking for Acid Wrap rods that is what they were called by builders there.

There are some manufacturers that build a spiral/revolving guide setup....

Quantum is one, with the Gary Klein Signature PTC808FGK flippin stick, it is revolver/spiral wrapped.

The manufacturers can't build very extensively in this area because it takes to much time to set up, and you cannot just use a spacing chart to do so. Each rod is flexed and spaced accordingly to the static flex.

Good Luck & Tight Lines!!!!

David is there any difference between right spiraled versus left?

Is there such a thing as right spiral for right handle reel ?

Thanks

Thanks for the info guys.

David.  How often do you make rods and sell them? I like the looks of the one's you have up there right now. And when the $$$ comes around i'm gonna give one of your rods a try.  Thanks.

When I build my rods they are allways spiral wrapped. I don't notice any difference in the MH or Heavy action rods, but when you get into the Medium and Medium Light rods there is a noticable difference when the rod is under stress.

Nope it is just placement of the bumper guide.

I agree here and will add, if you load the MedHvy and Hvy power rods spiral wrapped with enough weight, you will surly notice a big difference in the way the rod works for you..

Only load a MH and H power spiraled rod with less weight and like T-Mike, and George stated you will notice very little difference.

Tight Lines!!!
