GANGGREEN Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 OK, how big? This is one of my largest smallmouth ever. I know what he went on the handscale, just thought I'd see what people's guesses are. Sometimes I see photos of fish with "confirmed weights" and I think the fish looks smaller. Occasionally the fish looks bigger than the confirmed weight. Any guesses? Quote
Texas Hawg Hunter Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 I would say around six pounds. You know its a good fish when you have to hold it with all of your fingers Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 +/- 5 lbs Nice fish! Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 7.9 You got to be joking. 6 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 5.8 to 6.3 Lbs.. Beautiful fish... Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 Somewhere between 21"-22" = 6 lbs +/- .25 lbs. For average body smallmouth. Nice smallie! Tom Quote
DFrench97 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Around 5 1/2 - 6lbs I'd say! Beautiful fish, looks similar to my pb which was a smallie @ 5 1/2 Lbs. 1 Quote
Big Fish Rice Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 You look like a pretty tall guy...I'd say 5 1/2 pounds at least, maybe 5 3/4 since it has a gut. Very nice either way.. Quote
wnybassman Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 I don't dare guess, Bill. I know just my own pictures makes them look much bigger or much smaller than the actual weight depending on how the shot turned out. Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 Under six lbs, probably 5.25 to 5.75 is my guess. Does not look like a lake erie fish. Looks like a long fish around 20-21 inches. Nice smallie no matter what it weighs. 1 Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Somewhere in between 5 and 6, I'd say. Nice smallie either way! Quote
Super User tomustang Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 You got to be joking. You're right, it must be bigger like 14lb 2oz 4 Quote
GANGGREEN Posted December 14, 2014 Author Posted December 14, 2014 6 lbs 4 ozs Winner, winner, chicken dinner. The fish was 22 3/4" long and weighed 6.4 pounds on a scale (which is probably around 6 pounds 6 ounces or 6 pounds 7 ounces without checking my math). The photo doesn't do it justice but if you compare the body of the fish to my meat head, you can see that it's a big fish. I've caught a number of honest 6 pounders and I thought the scale was broken when it "only" registered 6.4. And by the way, I'm not a terribly tall guy but I'm a big guy across the chest and shoulders so it's not as if a little dude is holding a big one way out in front of him for the camera. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 Sounds like tracker01 & inside trading to me, lol.. 1 Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 Sounds like tracker01 & inside trading to me, lol.. Yep. Seems a little fishy. Quote
Super User South FLA Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 So the weight is 6 lbs 6.4 oz which is equal to 6.4 lbs! Wow, pictures are deceiving. The fish was 22 3/4" long and weighed 6.4 pounds on a scale (which is probably around 6 pounds 6 ounces or 6 pounds 7 ounces without checking my math). To be exact its 6lbs 6 2/5 ozs, lol! Nice fish and what matters is your memory of the catch, who cares about all of our opinions, it was fun playing the guess game though. I was off by 1lb 2 2/5 ozs, it is a brown fish though! Quote
tracker01 Posted December 14, 2014 Posted December 14, 2014 No, no, no. No fishy, inside trading going on here. I got it fair and square. Drum roll please," Now where's my chicken dinner"? Quote
