OK, how big?  This is one of my largest smallmouth ever.  I know what he went on the handscale, just thought I'd see what people's guesses are.  Sometimes I see photos of fish with "confirmed weights" and I think the fish looks smaller.  Occasionally the fish looks bigger than the confirmed weight.  Any guesses?

Somewhere between 21"-22" = 6 lbs +/- .25 lbs. For average body smallmouth.

Nice smallie!

Around 5 1/2 - 6lbs I'd say!  Beautiful fish, looks similar to my pb which was a smallie @ 5 1/2 Lbs.

You look like a pretty tall guy...I'd say 5 1/2 pounds at least, maybe 5 3/4 since it has a gut. Very nice either way..

I don't dare guess, Bill.   I know just my own pictures makes them look much bigger or much smaller than the actual weight depending on how the shot turned out.

Under six lbs, probably 5.25 to 5.75 is my guess. Does not look like a lake erie fish. Looks like a long fish around 20-21 inches. Nice smallie no matter what it weighs.

6 lbs 4 ozs

Winner, winner, chicken dinner.  The fish was 22 3/4" long and weighed 6.4 pounds on a scale (which is probably around 6 pounds 6 ounces or 6 pounds 7 ounces without checking my math).  The photo doesn't do it justice but if you compare the body of the fish to my meat head, you can see that it's a big fish.  I've caught a number of honest 6 pounders and I thought the scale was broken when it "only" registered 6.4.  And by the way, I'm not a terribly tall guy but I'm a big guy across the chest and shoulders so it's not as if a little dude is holding a big one way out in front of him for the camera.

So the weight is 6 lbs 6.4 oz which is equal to 6.4 lbs!  Wow, pictures are deceiving.

To be exact its 6lbs 6 2/5 ozs, lol! Nice fish and what matters is your memory of the catch, who cares about all of our opinions, it was fun playing the guess game though. I was off by 1lb 2 2/5 ozs, it is a brown fish though!
