Bank Fishing In S Florida Late Fall

Hello fellow Floridans,

Need some advise on what to use when fishing from the bank during the colder days. I have tried lipless cranks, senkos, jerk baits, spinner baits and nothing. These are the days when I wish I had a boat to look for where the bass are hiding.

Any advise is welcomed

There isn't much advice to give unfortunately. You're using the right baits. Since your bank fishing, I would tell you to cover as much water as you can until you find active fish. I went out today for about 1.5 hrs walking the canals. Came across 2 nice bass but they refused to engage my bait. I would have had more success peacock fishing. Came across 5 nice pea's active around grass mats. I didn't have the right bait or outfit for them. This time of year the fish can be lockjawed for a while with all these passing fronts. Be patient until the weather stabilize and then give your waters a try. Good luck.

Thanks Lou! I guess I just wait till things warm up. I even tried a 10ft diving crank even though I know I risk snagging when fishing from shore. I just wanted 1 bite even if it was a small one >_<

Usually the smaller bass will bite small trick worms and big EZ's reaction strikes

I have had sucesss on terrible windy wet days in Jan and Feb as fronts were moving through. I think the cloud cover brings them out, barometric pressure change, or the chop reduce visability.

Blue bird skies in winter usually are tough outings IMHO.

Glades bring's up several good points. Fish can be caught on small plastics and swimbaits. All is not lost. Fish can be caught, its just that some days can be slower than others.

This has been a pretty decent week up until yesterday.  Day by day the bite has weakened culminating with only one 6" bass Saturday.  Primarily fishing canals up here in Delray I've been using jerkbaits when I can and if there is vegetation I'm fishing a weedless fluke, and fish it as a top water lure.  I fish this way by choice, it's more fun for me, senkos and jigs may have produced more but didn't fish them.

 

The peacocks are quite slow up here, I'm seeing none swimming around so site casting is out.  I have caught 2 by pure luck in places where I normally have pretty good success.  I did head into Boca on a tip I received a few weeks ago, the tip was not bogus but was told they were only catching them on live bait.  The locals confirmed the live bait, I did manage to get a peacock strike on xrap there.  Only fished 1 place there, I'm not familiar with the area and don't have access to some of the private community ponds.

Little late replying post, but the weather is still vibrant. I was fishing before SoFL got chilly this week, and not a whole lot happening, that next morning it was 47 degrees out. Ive been noticing right when the water warms up around 8-9 am at some lakes, the bass are free roaming till around 12-3 theyre usually in the structure,weeds, etc till dusk and they swim again. Ive noticed that at our lake by my work which is really vibrant place. Iv caught monster cichlids, tilapia, and mudfish in it too. When the sun was out, ive caught several bass on Grape colored ribbon tail worms, standard 1/4 ounce weight. I think Grape color is over looked and not looked at too much anymore. If theres big cover, Torpedos around it will work well if its calm. If its a little choppy, bring out the spinner bait and find the depth range. Ive been getting more luck fishing late mornings this time of the year.

Doing well from the banks lately on weightless senkos t-rigged, fluoro line.  Jiggle, pause, jiggle, jiggle. 

 

(AVIDBF2015: I like grape too. Strike King (in their "Zero" senko-type bait) makes a "PB&J": grape down one side, tan down the other. Nice little snack for LMB)

Hey everyone, its been a while since my last post. It's also been a while since the last time I did some fresh water fishin'. Been sidelined with back pains and when I've gotten a chance to fish I've been doing it in salt water. But I went out to Quiet Waters Park yesterday and caught 3 bass  1.5 to 2 pounders in about 2 and a half hours. My buddy did the same. Caught 1 on one of my custom painted deep diving cranks in a bass color with extra glitter. 1 on a cheap wlure crank and 1 on a yum dinger green with chartreuse tail.

 

Felt good to be out there again, and hopefully I will be on here more often posting my success!

I'm more the central gulf coast area but got quite a few hits and one lil guys yesterday on a local pond I call the fish tank. It's full of small bass but they where hitting at least

Hit 2 golf course this morning 6:45-7:30, about 10 bass, nothing bigger than 2 or 1.5 lb.  Walked over to my peacock canal @ 7:30 and caught 2 tiny peacocks, they aren't big here.  Getting ready to go to my community pond, great fish in there but with all this county water they are pumping in the fish don't bite like they used to.

Haven't posted in forever. Went out yesterday in the Pinecrest area canals. Saw one peacock the whole day. Filled with Midas cichlids they love the rattletrap. Caught this one on a bass pro rattle trap.

I live in Venice and have been fishing the local ponds the last few weeks and all I've really had luck with are texas rigs. Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits are hit and miss but zoom magnum shakey heads in green pumpkin are gettin hit faster then I can get em in the water. Good luck!
