Green Trout Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 What braided line do you guys use and why is it good? Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Sunline FX2. Casts and manages better because it's round. It's eight strand modified PE makeup makes it superior to any other in abrasion resistance and longevity. It sinks, if you like that in a braid. It's color lasts a long time as well. 2nd to FX2 is Seaguar Smackdown for me. 1 Quote
adriank123 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I like Power Pro Super Slick in the aqua green color. Smooth, thin diameter, and reliable. Sure the color fades a bit but I use a fluorocarbon leader either way (I use double uni-knot to tie my leaders). On my spinning setup I use 20lb. While my friend uses 30lb and 40lb on baitcasters. It also doesn't wind knot often. You can buy a 150 yard spool at Walmart more or less for $20. Sure it's more pricy than Spiderwire Stealth but it's a lot better in my imo. Quote
bluenitrouscoupe Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 I love powerpro super slick 8 Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Tried power pro and its a lot louder than other braids I've tried. Wasn't really expecting that, doesn't really matter but it kind of annoys me, also it doesn't cast as well and the color bleeds ALOT. Overall wasn't that impressed its a decent line for the money, maybe super slick is better idk. FX2 gets my vote for 50#+, maxima ultragreen for 40#- and 15 lb on spinning gear. Quote
ABW Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 The best braid is the one you like most. 3 Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 The best braid is the one you like most. Very true. Everybody has their personal preferences. So I guess there's no "best" braid. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 The easy choice is Sufix 832 which most guys like. After testing a number of brands for the past two years, I think The TUF-Line Tournament 8 is my favorite. The line is soft for easy casting, has not frayed and is as strong as any line I have used. http://www.tuf-line.com/products_TUF-Lines_26.html Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 I use regular power pro, because it's inexpensive, reliable, and available almost everywhere. 3 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 Smackdown or 832 for me. Quote
thehooligan Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 10lb yellow pp would be my favorite. 1 Quote
Super User Teal Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 Spiderwire ultimate braid Quote
Super User Master Bait'r Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 Sunline FX2. Casts and manages better because it's round. It's eight strand modified PE makeup makes it superior to any other in abrasion resistance and longevity. It sinks, if you like that in a braid. It's color lasts a long time as well. 2nd to FX2 is Seaguar Smackdown for me. I also really like FX2. It has no coatings to wear off either so the line stays more consistent over its life. I have 10# SX1 for my finesse combo and I love that too. 50lb FX2 on the frog rod has never let me down though. It's not as limp and ropey as PP but I like it better personally. There is no right answer though, and everybody is different so OP should research and try stuff. Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted December 13, 2014 Super User Posted December 13, 2014 There is a thread below where a lot of guys say that they like PP. I bought some spiderwire because it was cheap at the time. Time will tell Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 Stren Sonic braid .... Quote

Super User Montanaro Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 Smackdown Quiet, small diameter and doesn't bleed Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted December 14, 2014 Super User Posted December 14, 2014 Power Pro Super 8 Slick very quiet and strong. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted December 15, 2014 Super User Posted December 15, 2014 Recently spooled up with US braid, 20# for my cuda outfit and 10# for a bass set up. The line performs equal to any other line I have used. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 15, 2014 Super User Posted December 15, 2014 The best brand is the one you are using to catch your personal best. Otherwise, all the others are the same. Quote
Acwood04 Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 I really like the Seaguar Kanzen. I use 15-20 lb on some of my spinning set ups and 30-50 lb on my baitcasters. Quote
